I dont smoke. I dont know what it is. Some times its dry, sometimes I cough up stuff. Ive had it for over a week now and my throat is really starting to hurt. But nothing else is really bothering me. Some times i kindda wheeze too. Im not a big fan of medicine, but I tried cough syrup, cough drops, hot toddys and even onion tea and other teas. Now my voice is rough too. What could be causing this? How can I get rid of it? Someone said allergies, but I havent had this before and I tried benedryl but it didnt help. Ive also loaded up on vitamins too, guess I figure that might help.

I have been coughing up alot of mucus lately. I dont have a doctor, because I dont normally get sick and when I do its just a comon cold. Ive been researching whooping cough and bronchitis, and it kindda sounds like those, but I dont have a runny nose, fever or anything like that. Though I do get chills easily.

This could very well be a symptom of allergies. Just because you haven't had this before, does not mean that it is not possible. Our bodies tend to go through changes every seven years. It is possible for you to be allergic to something today that you weren't allergic to before.

Further, you should definitely see your family physician for your symptoms. He/she is the expert and only this individual can make a proper diagnosis. You may have to go for some special tests. It will be worth it in the end as you will know what the problem is and will be able to deal with it. Be prepared to take medication.

Try simply drinking a lot of water. Keep in mind that allergies can arise suddenly, without rhyme nor reason.

The vitamins are good. Add hot lemon and honey to that: At worst, it won't hurt you. And it might sooth your throat.

If you don't see an improvement in a hurry, go to a doctor and find out what's going on.

Good luck!

time to see the doc and maybe get a referral to an allergist. you could also try an expectorant which would help you cough up an phlegm in your lungs, but if it is persistent, there could be someting else going on.....maybe a lung infection or a strep or staph infection.....
best to get it checked out....
