For centerpieces i used smallish fishbowl style clear glass bowls with a ripple like top and also bought some small metallic looking glass marbles and small white votive candles in glass jars that you can buy by the dozen. Put the votive candles in the jars in the center of the bowl and fill in with a bag of the marbles. Then tie some of the same ribbon or another color in the wedding around the top. Our theme was hearts so i also glued little clear metallic hearts around the outside. All of this i got at one of the big craft store chains, Michael's.
Hope this helps, it's not super fancy, but with other table decorations it looks elegant.
Looking for a videographer and or photographer?? write to me for details

Candles, arrangements of greenery, crystal bowls with brightly colored berries floating in them, heaps of fruit sitting on top of mirrors, ceramic or pewter figurines, glitter or confetti, pirate hats and heaps of 'gold' coins and chains, seashells on platters of colored sand, tiki figures, costumed teddy bears, pumpkins or other gourds...do you have a particular theme?
The fact is, you can use nearly anything for a centerpiece. Think about the mood you want to create, then look at the things around you with as clear an eye as you can muster up.
Keep the arrangement low (you want people to be able to see one another across the table) and in keeping with any feel or theme you're trying to create (don't use seashells if your theme is 'Manhatten skyline' or bowls of cranberries if your colors are peach and mauve). Play with different materials and different arrangements until you're happy with them.
Have fun! This is one of the more enjoyable aspects of creating a wedding, because you get to play with your creative side and there's nearly no way to get it 'wrong.'
If you need a bit of inspiration, go to a few wedding planning websites and take a look at some of the ideas posted there, or pick up an issue of Martha Stewart's magazine. Once you've got your creative juices flowing, it's amazing how many ideas you can come up with.

I love St. Judy's idea.
Maybe you could find a pretty natural cork tile for under the ice bucket.
I was going to suggest a bottle of white and a bottle of red wine on the table. I don't know what your colors are but these bottles along with some gapes, strawberries, or whatever fruit matches your colors rolled in sugar! The fruit looks so naturally beautiful and the sugar kicks it up a notch and adds a little sparkle.

if you do not want to have flowers because some people may be allergic then you are going to want to avoid sented candles. You can get a small glass bowl and non sented floating candles. I did not have centerpieces just some glitter.

You can use a vase or bowl filled with glass beads, or pretty stones, seashells ect. Candles on a small serving tray or mirror. An oversized champagne glass with a ribbon tied around it, filled with candy, beads or even empty would be pretty.

A friend of mine did little fish bowls with fish swimming around. You can get really pretty beta fish for like $2 each, and the bowls were very inexpensive as well, plus it's different and unique. Good luck!

I HAVE SEEN CANDLES USED IN SEVERAL CENTERPIECES. USE DIFFERENT HEIGHTS OF CANDLES IN THE COLOR (S) OF YOUR CHOICE AND ARRANGE THEM TO LOOK THEIR BEST.
GREENERY, NOT FLOWERS BUT DIFFERENT TYPES OF GREEN PLANTS CAN MAKE A BEAUTIFUL ARRANGEMENT..DIFFERENT SHADES OF GREEN ARE IN MOST PEOPLES YARDS.....I SOMETIMES ADD FRESH HERBS TO A GREEN ARRANGEMENT.
LEAVES, ESPECIALLY FALL LEAVES CAN MAKE A BEAUTIFUL CENTERPIECE ARRANGEMENT.
ROCKS OF DIFFERENT SIZES AND TEXTURES ARRANGED ON A RUSTIC PLACE MAT CAN LOOK GREAT AND UNUSUAL.....
THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX....BE ORIGINAL...HAVE FUN!
