I haven't heard any funny response to that question before but I have heard a funny response to the question "where are you going?" The person replied, "to hell if I don't get my act together." I thought that was really funny.

I respond to "how are you doing?" over the phone (speaking excitedly and very, very quickly) - "doing what?! Oh, I've been trying to quit smoking, I'm down to three packs a day! Can't you tell?! (without waiting for a reply) I've been doing fine, just fine, got the whole house cleaned this weekend! I washed the cat, cleaned the attic, ripped up the carpet, gutted the basement, sorted the books by subject, last word, and authors middle name, got the bathroom soo messy washing that darn cat I decided to gut it too - say you wouldn't happen to know a good plumber? (without waiting for a reply) because I've got this problem, it's nothing really, its just a little leak, see I wanted to open the space up a bit so I was standing on this pipe, you see - I don't have a tall enough ladder, um, anyways, I was standing on this pipe and tearing down all that nasty old sheetrock and the funniest thing happened! I broke it! yep, water everywhere. After only two hours I found the main water shut off, after the water company was kind enough to tell me, and I got it fixed, but I've been without water for three days and the only thing I've had to drink is soda, and without water to cook I've just been eating pizza, and I gotta tell you - it's the new miracle diet! I've never felt this good!....and on and on and on....

I only did this once, as a practicle joke on april fools day over the phone to my best friend who was out of town - boy was that a good laugh when I got to the punch line after about 45 minutes and the funny(wierd) thing is she thought I was for real about half the time and was worried, I felt a bit bad after hearing that but we had a good laugh at the end. It was so spontaneous but fitting of me...

Why does it have to be funny? Why can't you just be polite? Simple good manners shouldn't be turned into a comedy sketch. It's so cheesy.

I don't know how funny this is, but it leaves them kind of wondering what you mean by it.

I always say, "I'm doin' it".
