To answer this in full would take up more space than I could write here. I suggest that if you would really like to get the full meaning of his manner, pay particular attention to the verbs of his actions. He was a great persecutor of the faith as Saul then became a champion for the faith as Paul.

Paul was a persecurtor of Christians until his miraculous "conversion" when meeting the spirit of Jesus on the road to Damascus. One will rarely run across a more self promoting apostle than Paul. His manner of life prior to his conversion was one of privilege and power. When he converted, he retained the privilage and power, in my estimation. He also did little in the way of actually learning the teaching of Jesus directly. In fact, he spent little time with the other apostles that actually were with Jesus while he lived.

Paul is an interesting character...

Paul was a pharisee who tried to rid the jews of the Christian doctrine by including Gentiles in the mix. He knew that a majority of Jews would not accept a doctrinal shift that incorporated the Gentiles after God had spent 4000 years, keeping them separate from the Jews. In order to do this he had to ignore Matthews account of Jesus telling the Gentile woman that he was not sent for them, but for God's chosen people the Jews.

Paul was a persecuter of Christians until his conversion on the road to Damascus. He was a tent-maker by trade and a citizen of Rome by birth due to an inherited purchased citizenship by his father who was also a tent-maker in Tarsus. As well, Paul was probably appointed as a local magistrate of some kind to oversee the proceeding for passing out punishment on Chrisitians. He witnessed the stoning of Stephan. He was a Jew...maybe practised Jewish Mysticism cuz he knew so much about it. He often confessed about his life before his conversion...Love in Christ, ~J~

He had faith in Jesus Christ and he taught others about Jesus, that's the course he was talking about. Paul travelled extensively around and went from city to city preaching and teaching what he had learned about and from Jesus. We are told to do the same things as Paul.
(2 Timothy 1:13) Keep holding the pattern of healthful words that you heard from me with the faith and love that are in connection with Christ Jesus.

Manner of life is referring to the way that Paul "conducted" himself. Other similar words would be... "my way of life" or "personal example".

People could see that he was dedicated to preaching the gospel and even faced jail and persecution for doing so. This is the "manner of life" that he is referring to.

Read the book of Acts, it's all about Paul's lifestyle, or 'manner of life'
