It's only a broadcast antenna signal that I want to record from.
The manual says to use an external tuner but I can't seem to find anything like that for sale. If you know where I can get one please let me know or if you have any other ideas. It does connect through another dvd recorder as the other one has an antenna connection and then I can run a/v cables from the output to the a/v inputs in the new recorder and I can record but this is not ideal as I need the new recorder for use in another room. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The cheapest way is to get an old VCR and use its tuner. The mechanical part of the VCR doesn't even have to be in working order.

The manual for your DVD recorder should have instructions for hooking the cables up.

You can buy external tuners but they are a bit pricey at the moment. If you live in the US, starting in Jan 08, the government is going to start giving out $40 off coupons for digital converter boxes. These have both digital and analog TV tuners and should cost about $20 (after coupon).
