I would vote for school uniforms, because they spare you the money for buying new clothes, and also they spare others to see you dressed in some vulgar manner. And you look more nice in it, I think. (different styles, anyway) Who agrees, and who doesn't? Please tell me your reasons.

Uniforms are the way to go. They avoid the one upmanship of individual dressing and allows everyone to concentrate on the real reason for being in school....to learn, not to see who's wearing what or how much skin is showing. For the naysayers who feel they can't "express" themself, save it for after school on your own time. It's what we all have to do when we start in an adult work force. Better to learn it early on.

I liked having a uniform in school simply because I never had to worry about what to wear in the morning.

However, school uniforms do not spare you the money for buying new clothes. You usually still need to buy new shoes, pants, socks, tights, shirts, sometimes a new school sweater. I think that the only thing I managed to wear through all 4 years of high school were my kilt and my school sweater. Everything else I pretty much had to buy again every year.

I went to private school growing up so I always had to wear uniforms. Of course the grass was always greener on the other side, meaning that I always wanted to be able to wear what I wanted when I was in school. I kind of had a hard time when I got to high school, where uniforms weren't worn. I had no sense of style at all!

Even though I'm better now, I can make an argument either way. I think it's the parents that need to exercise more control over their children though. It's kind of sad that the schools have to step in more and more, especially in the public schools, and tell the kids what to wear.

I agree that school uniforms take a lot of stress off the children, because they don't feel like they have to "compete" or beg their parents for the popular new clothes. Also a lot less stressful on the parents, as there is a limited selection of uniform clothes, and they are less expensive than the name-brand designer items that many children want. I definitely think that uniforms teach our children how to dress more professionally, a skill that will definitely benefit them throughout their lives.

uniforms should be in schools because u don't have to spend money for new clothes and some people can not afford new clothes.
