How much will a dealer give me for it? It also has a check engine light that stays on constantly.

A check engine light means that the car is not in excellent condition. The trade-in price (e.g. what a dealer could offer you) for Fair condition is $4,725 while good condition is $5,525.

Check your classifieds and see what people are asking for cars like yours. The dealer won't give you that much. Subtract at least $1000 from what you see in the paper, and maybe more because of the check engine light.
