2. it is not cancerous, so therefor it doesn't need to be tested
3.A woman can have her unborn childs life terminated but I dont' have a say in what I want tested or not???
4 when my dad passed from liver problems I was asked if I wanted an autopsy done <<

Ok, it has to be biopsied. This will determine if it is melanoma....the most deadly cancer on the face of the earth.
Just do what the doc says and get the thing biopsied. If its nothing, then your at peace knowing your not going to die.
If its melanoma, you can plan to die peacefully and give all your stuff away before you go.
Dont be such a control freak!!!

The reason the Dr has to send off the mole for a biopsy is in case it is cancerous and you do not come back in a year with metastatic melanoma suing the Dr and claiming she never told you that the mole really needed biopsying.
The Dr is going by standard operating procedure while also doing the right thing for you plus covering her own butt. Get the mole removed and find out for sure what is going on and then you won't have to worry about this issue any longer.
If you do happen to find a Dr that will remove an unknown mole and not send it off for biopsy then be very careful because this is not a serious Dr and you are not getting the level of care you really need.

Why wouldn't you want to know? Its normal to be scared. I go every 4 months for a check up due to melanoma. Have had 5 areas treated for skin cancer and all 5 were caught just in time before the cancer moved to a different stage. Thanks to sending it out to a lab.
The sooner you know the better
Plus it gives you a peace of mind knowing. You will end up driving yourself crazy down the road with (what if's)

If I was the doctor, I would feel obliged to have it tested. Moles can change over time from non-cancerous to cancerous. So, I am not going to be irresponsible and ignore that possible fact.

It is standard procedure to send off the specimen. She probably does not think that it is cancerous... it's just a waste of tissue not to test it. You have the right to specify that you don't want to know anywhere that you go but they will send it out for their own knowledge no matter what.

The point is if the mole is cancerous they would need to be sure cancer hadn't spread. So, unfortunately, you need to know. Just stay positive, melanoma is one of the easier cancers to beat if found early so you shouldn't be scared.

just tell them you don't want to know if it's cancerous or not, and that you just want it removed. Simple as that. I had a mole removed when I was about 15 right next to my nose, It was benign.
