I here it said and I read it all to often, that God is like the wind.

"You can feel the wind but you can't see it.
We can prove that wind and air exist and god is like the air."

I think you are correct.

God cannot be like the wind, because we know what causes wind, and we know that it exists because we can observe and measure the results of wind.

Hurricanes are pretty evident.

God is not.

Primoa - You and I can feel the wind but, only you can feel God, I cannot. Also you interpret the God that you feel completely differently than a man in the middle east who worships Allah and 'feels' that version of God. The analogy is completely flawed.

To say God is like wind, probably refers to the flatulence that is produced from a diet rich in religious protein, Bible beans are the worse offender, with Koran peas and Torah beans coming in second and third. Thus God is produced, and you can both feel, hear and smell the results. Thus since you can sense the wind, god must exist?

However since the wind is produced by a religious diet, and not by god itself, then the wind is only evidence of consuming a religious diet, not of god in the person/body.

The use a metaphor such as a physical force like the wind to explain an invisible god, is seen as a very good analogy by somebody unversed in the basic concepts of science. Physical measurements of forces are not the same as spiritual forces, and to draw a correlation towards the two - or to suggest that since one exists, the other must, just shows the stupidity of the person making such a leap of faith statement.

By the way, Evangelical religion is like a wind, a hurricane, people in the bible belt seem happy to chase around after it, and it gets a lot of coverage on the news, but most normal folks just want to get the hell out of its way, before it 'gathers' them up and spits them out again.

Jesus explained the "new birth" to Nicodemus in John 3:7, 8 in which He compared the natural wind to the baptism of the Holy Ghost, "7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit."

In Acts 2:2-4 we read, "2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. "

The sound of the wind as described by Jesus was an audible sign of the coming of the Holy Ghost (Comforter) to anoint the apostles to the unbelievers present at the time. In this respect God is like the air because the Holy Spirit is God.

NO WAY! God is real and has a body. How else would he show his "back parts" to Moses? Maybe that's where the stink comes from, I don't know.

Also read 2Sam.22:11 And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: and he was seen upon the wings of the wind.
Pss.18:10 And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.

God rides on cherubs and FLIES ON THE WIND, kinda like a fat Santa. He is not like the wind.

Air can be detected and measured many ways. And if one really wants to see it, you can always chill it to a very low temperature until it freezes.

So by that logic, we can prove gremlins and pixies exist, because air exists.

And your problem with our analogy is what?

I think it's a good analogy: We cannot physically see God.....but He is always there......just like the air & the wind.

Makes perfect sense to me.....why not you?
