A police officer told me he didn't want to see me running through the Black neighborhood for my safety. He said he would arrest if he saw me.

Depends largely upon the neighborhood, doesn't it? There are many neighborhoods a woman alone should not even be in, much less traversing it in a morning run. If you are talking about a quiet, established, family neighborhood, then why not. If you are talking about six to eight blocks of boarded up, abandoned buildings, then no way, whether it is black, white, Hispanic, or Chinese. Use your common sense.

Edit: Okay, I just read your "additional comments". How absurd! Of course, no police officer told you that! No police officer would threaten to arrest you simply for being in a certain neighborhood. Congrats. You really had me trying to give you a straight answer, when all you are doing is trolling.

My suggestion would be to get the cop's badge number and take notes of exactly what he says, and file a complaint with the local police department. Last time I checked it wasn't illegal to jog through a neighborhood where most people are of a different race or income level than you are.

There are a few black-dominated neighborhoods where you might fall victim to racist attacks if you're white. But by and large you probably won't be physically assaulted. Just be aware of your surroundings and don't carry anything valuable, since any runner or walker is potentially victim regardless of race.

If you can find a dependable running partner you may consider going together, if you plan to run through a high-crime area. There's power in numbers. (I said high crime, which is not the same as black)

It depends on the neighborhood and the time of day you'll be running. Is it a high crime neighborhood? Are you planning to run in the evening? Are there many other runners at the time that you're planning to run?

Lets define BLACK neighborhood, do you mean high crime area? Then say that, and no running thru a high crime area is not the smartest idea you have come up with. The race or color of a neighborhood does not automatically indicate the danger level

I live in a highly interracial neighborhood. It's not the specific "black" race that bothers me. It's the individual thugs of any color that is plaguing my neighborhood that bothers me.
Find a local school and run during off hours.

...growing up in Boston (way back when)...it was safer going thru W. Roxbury then it was in "Southey"... If your concerned, why not first find a "tack"... run with some other people and gain a sense of the area... I'd much rather walk thru a "black" neighborhood then a "white" bigoted one...

funny thing about black people, they dont have cooties and the majority tend not to kill and rape people lol. If its a bad neighbor hood i wouldnt run though it. But the choice not to run though it because there are black people living there is a stupid raciest choice.
