Back up all your personal data from your PC ("Backup" means: copy to CD / DVD / external hard drive). Then, do a Windows "Clean Install". For further instructions, go to:
Note: You must use your Recovery disks if included with your PC, to avoid driver problems, not a store-bought XP disk. The Recovery disks may be ON the hard drive. So Read The Friendly Manual FIRST to find out how to make your own Recovery disks. I hope you haven't already reformatted your hard drive.

It depends on which OS you want to install. There is a lot of information online about step by step installlation of diferent OSs.But if you are planning to install recent OS like XP,all you need is a bootable WinXp CD. Insert it at startup and go setup-diferent comps will tell you which key to press at startup to go to setup-then set the boot order to begin with CD.exit the setup window from there you just need to follow the instructions that appear on your screen.
Slight caution however, backup your valuable data before the process as you might opt to format your disk.
Success.
