Either or both. Usually if a puppy is given it is the choice of the stud's (male's) owner. It is usually aranged before the breeding.

Depends on you and the stud owner. In my case I charge the amount of one puppy. Before you get into this with the stud owner make sure you both make up a contract that you can both live with and have each party sign it. That way you both know what to expect when the time comes. You take the female to the stud when it is time. In my case if the female doesn't produce a litter of puppies I will give the owner of the female money back or another stud service.

Depends on the owner of the stud. They could either want money or their choice of a male puppy once the puppies are born. If there are no males another arrangement has to be made. Usually studs get paid no matter if the female gets pregnant or not.

Well normally you discuss it all far in advance. Different breeds seem to do it a bit different.. I pay stud fee up front.. Find out what the owner considers a litter.. and everything else, get my paperwork signed on the spot.
Some people pay 1/2 at breeding time, the remainder when b itch is pregnant.
Some people pay 1/2 when b itch is pregnant, and 1/2 when litter hits the ground
Some people get pick of the litter etc..
Here's my problem with pick of the litter to stud owner. If owner of the b itch is truly breeding to better the breed.. How come she would give up ' pick puppy ' ??? You would keep what is ' better ' and continue with that dog..
When breeding for pick Whose pick is pick of the litter?? Is it pick female, pick male? If Pick of the litter is your pick, and I am stuck with what you say is pick.. I would rather take the cash. If pick of the litter is my ( as stud owner I am talking ) then it's a different story. BUT I want to know about the b itch to know if she is worth breeding to, and if I am taking pick, do I really even want a puppy out of her?? If you wouldn't want a puppy out of that b itch, why would you breed to her???
You should find a good stud contract and don't forget to test both dogs for Brucellosis...

this is between you and the owner of the male
first make sure that any contract states that only if the female is pregnated some people still expect all kinds of things and find out that it's the male who can't produce. This is why it's best to have both dogs checked by the vet.
I have seen the price of a puppy given, pick of the litter and that means the whole litter you don't get first choice.
Do realize that even if they get the pick it's still up to you to worm the pup at 2,4, 6,8 weeks and they should have at least one shot before they go to the new home(s)
I hope this helps

Either way, you are only entering your dog into the dark world of doggie prostitution. I think you should only breed your dog when the world is free of all the unwanted animals in the shelters. But I would try to get the stud owner to take a puppy. That way you might not feel so guilty for giving someone money so their dog can have sex with yours.

depends on the situation.
Are you a stud service (probably not since you are asking) usaully an agreement is made BEFORE the dogs mate.
If your dog just ran over and got some other dog preg then you better keep your mouth shut about things and get your dog fixed.

Normally the dog's owner will get either money for the stud fee, a puppy of THEIR choice (first pick, usually), or both.

Male owner gets pick of the litter or the amount of money one pup will sell for. I bred mine with my cousin't male, and we just split up the pups. We got two and he got two. It's just whatever you guys agree on. But it's customary for the male dog's owner to get pick of the litter.
