I am going to be making yellow rice..can I make it in a silver pot or is it better to use a glass one? Does it even matter? Also, I have a glass pot I could use but the top for it does not have a hole on the top to release air..can I still cook rice in it?

You don't want to release air. Its the steam that cooks rice.

Best way to get the perfect rice and not worry about it getting burnt is to invest in a rice cooker which has measurements for rice and the amount of water needed. Any pot will be fine, just don't lift the lid too often while the rice is cooking so that the heat does not escape.

any pot with a lid will do.
bring the water to a boil, rinse off your rice before hand so the water is clear, add a couple dashes of salt to the boiling water..
add the rice and the water should cover it about 1 inch, stir well and let boil until the water is just above the rice,
immediately turn down the heat to the lowest setting remove the pot from the heat until the temp reduces and stir once more and then put a lid on it.. let it cook about 15 min .. perfect every time....

By silver do you mean Stainless steel?
You can use either but make sure that the lid you use fits tightly. The Steam cooks the rice as you simmer it.
