Or who else (if not celebrities) could afford a bottle of such wine...

The Wine Auction was in June, and while I wasn't there this time, I have been there before with a free pass for working there. I read the results of the top lots this year, including Screaming Eagle. In all honesty, while I'm sure celebrities do buy it, there weren't any there when I was, and I didn't recognize any of the top bidders the last 3 years. From what I saw and read, the bidders are just wealthy people. Old money, CEO's, women with too much money and time,

Teri Hatcher was there a couple years ago, and Dana Carvey this year, but they weren't allowed to bid because they were just the emcees.

The same people who think buying a townhouse for $2MM in that dump-hole called San Francisco is worth the money to live in such a "beautiful" city.

There are plenty of rich dopes in N. Calif. willing to dump $1000 for their trophy bottle of wine.

There's a sucker born every minute and they're all lining up to buy these "Small-production, Celebity-winemaker, ridiculously-priced" wines.
Give me a good Bordeaux for the same money any day!
