Islam is not a harmful religion by ANY means. Like any other religion, it teaches its people to defend itself when its being attacked, whether the muslim countries or the religion itself.

Now listen to this: People always, ALWAYS confuse a religion with its so-called "people". I quote the word "people" because many of these "muslims" who go around saying that theyre proud or grateful about the 9/11 attacks are not muslims at all, because Islam would never permit that unless America DIRECTLY attacked Iraq, like they are doing now, bombing its people endlessly.

Islam is a peaceful religion. Please, PLEASE DO NOT, like i said above, confuse it with people who walk around calling themselves muslims. Like any other religion, people who say they follow it are not always carrying that religion around truly in their hearts.

If you have some sort of issue with Islam, go and find out more about it rather than believing everything you see on CNN.

Try to remember that the true muslims of the world see the 9/11 attacks as a tradgedy just as everyone else. Even if the people who supposedly bombed these towers called themselves muslims, know that they are NOT realy muslims, because the religion in itself does not say ANYWHERE that this is okay.

I see that a lot of you are responding by saying the exact opposite of what i just stated. "People dont always reflect the true core of a religion".

By you catholics or whatever saying these horrible things about Islam, me thinking that Catholocism is a horrible religion that hates every other religion would be the same thing that you are saying about Islam. But i respect all religions, Islam teaches that.

But i guess you people are all just ignorant. "Dont flatter yourself by thinking you know something that we dont".... very smart remark. I do know something you dont...

Thats why I am muslim. And proud to be:)

Go ahead and bash me now. YOU hating muslims is exactly what you think muslims do; hate every other religion. So dont contradict yourselves, which is exactly what youre doing.

I posted this as a peaceful question and you people are just so rude and disrespectful towards me... i dont understand how so many people can be so ignorant all at the same time.

In complete agreement.

To The Reverend Soleil: Reading a bunch of Quranic verses and Hadiths does not make you an authority on Islam. Some of us Muslims have spent a considerable amount of time understanding the religion and trying to apply it in our lives. You can't possibly know what it feels like to be a Muslim... and therefore your opinions (based on your somewhat limited understanding and experiences) cannot weigh the same as the understanding of some of us Muslims.

To poseiden_is_back: Cheered? Do you really think Muslims are heartless? I was sitting in Saudi Arabia that day and sobbing in front of the TV for the lives that were lost.

When Muslims volunteer by the tens or hundreds of thousands just to hunt down and kill Bin Laden. When Muslims stop rioting over a few cartoons in a Danish newspaper. When Muslims stop making excuses for Hamas, Hezbollah, and similar terrorist organizations. When Muslims denounce and desert CAIR and other terrorist funding organizations. When there are NO celebrations of 9/11 in Muslim countries. When Muslims stop making excuses for Islamofascism.

I understand it. I understand it enough to place it in the same category as any other religious dogma that preaches superiority over others that do not share it's beliefs. Truthseeker's list says it all. The christians were the main source of violence in the middle ages, and now the torch has been passed to you guys.

Why is it that during those middle ages, Islamic countries were a source of rennaicance-like advancement, yet today, technology and progressive thought seems to be shunned? Why has Islam taken so many steps backwards?

Not all Islamics are terrorists, but most terrorists are Islamic. So, if the religion of peace (as we're forcefed) is what they say they are, how come we seldom hear of Imams and clerics CONDEMNING the actions of the radical few? We don't. So, in most peoples' minds, Islam = death. Simple enough for you?

I realize that not all male catholic priests are pedophiles either, but blowing yourself up and killing as many 'enemies of Islam' (be it Americans, Russian school children or even Shiites down the street) is a far worse namesake for your religion.

People will understand Islam when Muslims clear up the inconsistencies in their quran. Many of us are quite sophisticated in our intellect! We understand double-speak! We know that when Muslims say Islam is a peaceful religion, they have not finished the sentence.

- "Islam is a peaceful religion" ... (UNTIL somebody disobeys one of the many, many, many rules!)

-"Islam is beautiful so please come and join" ... (but you can never leave Islam or you will die.)

- "Islam is a tolerant religion" ... (but we hate and want to kill infidels because they are all wrong.)

- "Islam reveres its women and treats them with respect ... (unless the woman does not obey her husband. THEN she's in big trouble!)

See? We KNOW the little hidden secrets of Islam, the secrets you keep from us when you tell us your religion is peaceful and pious. I don't believe that extreme piety is much of a virtue! I feel sorry for anyone who feels I might be impressed by too much religion. I view it as a vice and a heavy load to bear, that is unnecessary.

So, I agree to understand as soon as Islam joins the 21st century and attempts to integrate into contemporary society instead of clinging to antiquated, stuffy ideology. I'm willing to wait though!

WHY WERE ISRAELIS DANCING ON 9-11 ?

THERE was ruin and terror in Manhattan, but, over the Hudson River in New Jersey, a handful of men were dancing. As the World Trade Centre burned and crumpled, the five men celebrated and filmed the worst atrocity ever committed on American soil as it played out before their eyes.

By 4pm on the afternoon of September 11, the van was spotted near New Jersey’s Giants stadium. A squad car pulled it over and inside were five men in their 20s. They were hustled out of the car with guns levelled at their heads and handcuffed.

In the car was $4700 in cash, a couple of foreign passports and a pair of box cutters – the concealed Stanley Knife-type blades used by the 19 hijackers who’d flown jetliners into the World Trade Centre and Pentagon just hours before. There were also fresh pictures of the men standing with the smouldering wreckage of the Twin Towers in the background. One image showed a hand flicking a lighter in front of the devastated buildings, like a fan at a pop concert. The driver of the van then told the arresting officers: “We are Israeli. We are not your problem. Your problems are our problems. The Palestinians are the problem.”

Quite so. The Meccan verses do talk about peaceful jihad. But the Medinan verses are quite aggressive and anything but peaceful. It's interesting that Muslims rarely quote these verses.

"Islam is not a harmful religion by ANY means"

ALL the Abrahamic religions have shown to create or attract fundamentalists and are essentially divisive. Do you need anything else to be considered harmful?

"Islam is a peaceful religion. Please, PLEASE DO NOT, like i said above, confuse it with people who walk around calling themselves muslims. Like any other religion, people who say they follow it are not always carrying that religion around truly in their hearts."

STOP USING THAT LAME FECKING EXCUSE. The Christians do it too (oh, that is not a real Christian) and IT ANNOYS EVERYBODY.

INSTEAD OF DISTANCING YOURSELF FROM THE OTHERS AND PRETENDING YOUR NOSE IS BLEEDING, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
