I'm the aunt of an 11th grader who was missed with by a family member, it's going through court right now, what I need to know is there any way she could get some kind of baby sitting help so she won't have to quit school. I need my life back. I have a daughter my self that needs me and my own grandson that I would like to spend more time with.

Do any of the high schools in your area offer on-site day care? You could also look into subsidized day care with fees that are based on your income. If your niece is not getting any social assistance look into this with her.You are to be commended for wanting to help keep your niece in school. An education is a must for everyone. Is her mother able to help at all with babysitting? Do you have community services in your ares?Perhaps some other family members would be willing to help.Check in your area to see what services are available in your area for single moms ( In my area Ontario,Canada we have Rose of Sharon which helps single moms).Years from now your niece will be thankful l for both your physical and emotional support.I'm sure it is stressful for you and you feel you cannot stretch yourself any further. Please try to hang in there for each other.I'm sure there must be someone out there to help you through this.Take care.

call the guidance counselor at your niece's school. they can offer you advice and give you information on the programs that your school system has to offer. Some have day care centers for students. Some offer home schooling classes with a teacher who check in with them on a daily or at least a weekly basis.

well, i mean you shouldnt say "babysitting". Shes in the 11th grade 16-17 probley. I dont know the situation but, if she cant be unattended at home then make her go to her friends house after school. Its a very good excuse and she wont sit there and be bored with a stranger. Pick her up when your done with your stuff. Trust me, i used to choose over my friends house then sitting at home anyday!

First it depends on what state you live in - most have a Social Services Department that will work with her (also should help with getting medical benefits, if needed)

Good luck and sorry about her situation
