I'm talking about the 3,000+ civilians (non-combatants) who died in Afghanistan and the 70,000+ civilians who have thus far died in Iraq.
I know it's important to remember the Americans who lost their lives in the attack on the World Trade Center. However, the wars we have started as a result of 9/11 have killed more innocent people than were killed in the World Trade Center attacks.
I think we ought to remember those innocents as well.

Truth Seeker: Perhaps you could explain to me the link between Jihadists and the war in Iraq, because I don't see it.
I blame the Jihadists for attacking us, and I think the Taliban bears some of the weight for the civilian casualties in Afghanistan, but I don't see how we can blame anybody but our own national mistakes for Iraq.

Six years ago today, the US was attacked on their own soil by terrorists. On that day, they joined the rest of the world that had been plagued by terrorists since the seventies. The government of the US had the chance to use the wave of sympathy that this attack generated. They could have lead the world in condemning all terrorism. Remember, some of these terrorist groups that had attacked other countries were funded by people in the US.
Instead, the government of the US used the situation to manoeuvre an illegal and ill-advised war in Iraq. Iraq had nothing to do with the attacks on 11th September 2001. Saddam Hussain, while a vile and vicious dictator, had not managed to develop weapons of mass destruction under the regime of sanctions imposed after the 1991 Gulf war.
Afghanistan was different, the Taliban government was sheltering the terrorists that attacked the US and refusing extradition. In response, the US was right to declare war and request aid under article 5 of the NATO agreement.

While my heart goes out to the victims of 9/11 and those particularly in Iraq since it had nothing to do with 9/11 I don't feel the same sorrow about the loss of life in Afghanistan. Don't get me wrong all non combatant death in war is tragic but I feel as bad for them as I do for Germans lost when the Nazis where in charge. They were being led by the Taliban and Bin Laden so some of the blame lies with them unfortunately.

It just wasn't the World Trade Center how about the Pentagon and the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania most people don't mention them. where do you get 70,000 civilians in Iraq? and also who has been killing them. How many were killed by terrorists or sectarian violence in their civil war. Sunni on Shiite fighting is killing many too. this is a day to remember an attack on the United States Just like Pearl Harbor. When we are attacked first then we didn't start it they did. I feel bad about all people dying but we were attacked and we responded. If we stand up to a bully who threatened his neighbors like Sadam or pure evil like Osama and the Taliban then we are not the bad guy.
We never started this war
I went to that website and it has good information but reading the charts all the killing of civilians is coming from the terrorists not the U.S. We would have some originally in the attack but not anymore the violence is from their own civil war and from insurgents we are trying to stop. Too many people blame the U.S. this would have never happened if the Muslim extremists had not attacked us.

I agree, Jihadists who intentionally triggered the war and continue the fight, cannot simply be condemned for 911, but also for all the lives that have been lost because of them. BUT FOR these Jihadists, those people would still be living.
But Im sure you meant just exactly what I said above, right Einstein? I mean, you werent one of those animals who, being so full of hate, Islam, and ignorance, decide to blame America for the actions of Jihadists...
EDIT:
Indeed I am happy to clarify. You see, while its not unreasonable to attach blame to the US armed forces for the civilian causualties suffered during the intial removal of the bloody dictator, anything after that is entirely triggered by the Jihadists themselves for entirely religious motives.
The attachment of nationalist motives to the insurgents, to what is a purely religious rational, is merely a ploy by "ends justify the means" leftists to push their worldview into a conflict that has nothing to do with left or right.
How I detest people who hold the views you articulate...but I do appareciate the semi retreat on Afganistan...but maybe your right...maybe Jihadists attacking America had no reason to believe any armed response would come upon the lands they inhabit...after all...they are well aware of how many ignorant leftists live in America...so it was not an unreasonable assumption that there would be absolutely not response at all...

It's sad that so many of those deaths had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11 (Iraq). I remember all the cries for blood after the attacks on our soil. I couldn't help but think...where does it end? Are we really going to repay violence with violence? Well we did, and it hasn't stopped yet.

See what one brainless can do to the world. The whole world is facing Muslim terrorism because of the mistake committed by the brainless administrators of US. Now they are facing the heat. Life is always precious whether it belongs to US, Iraq, UK, India, Muslim, Christian or Hindu whatever it may be.
US has suck the blood of this world. Shame on you....
