The Bible is composed of the Old and New Testaments. Tradition holds that Moses wrote the first five books of the old testament and that various others wrote the rest through the years. The Hebrew culture starts making an appearance in the archaeological record around the 12th century BCE, so the first five books were probably written sometime after that.
The New Testament was largely written sometime after Jesus's death so around 24 to 30 CE. Best estimates based on literary criticism place the gospels (the first 4 books) as being written around 70 to 100 CE and their authors are unknown. Paul wrote most of the remainder.

No matter how the Bible is analyzed, it is flawed. Strictly discussing only the New Testament, translators had complete discretion over content. If a story wasn’t complete, multiple stories were woven together to form one book. Pieces were moved around and put together like a puzzle. When a turn of a phrase seemed to even slightly disagree with the Church, it was removed in its entirety.
We now know that multiple scrolls of material, intended to be included as part of the Bible, were carefully hidden instead. This was necessary to avoid destruction of both the authors, and the information.
Scripted Codices, have slowly been discovered. They’ve been carbon dated and authenticated by experts to prove they were written at the same time the Bible was written. Numerous experts believe these writings were intended to be part of the original Bible. However, it is also true to say that these compositions are still the cause of great debate.
The New Testament was written two centuries after The Christ was crucified. Before the Bible was let loose to commoners, these powerful people had just simply raped it.
When one controls the religion of a people, they then control those people. This is why it was so important to make sure the Bible only told the stories approved of by the King and his Church. It also explains the hiding of certain texts. If anything written even smacks of freedom for the common man, it must be destroyed. For if it was found that the King was not god, the King could loose his ability to control his kingdom. As the translators were loyal to the King, the Bible was edited very carefully indeed.
Speaking only of the New Testament, the Bible remains one of the very best set of life instructions known to man. There is only one, most important law. It is: To love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might, and to love thy neighbor as you love yourself. If this Law is followed to the letter, it isn’t possible to break even one of the old Ten Commandments.
When Jesus was born, all prophecies from the Old Testament were fulfilled. The Old Testament passed away with the first coming of the Christ. The Ten Commandments were no longer relevant. This Commandment was the only one needed in order to not sin, and live as God wants man to live.
may peace be with you

Dear soul,
The Bible is obviously written by human beings according to their personal understanding and also to however much divine inspiration their intellect was capable of . Those human beings must have have been wise.
Wiser or more able to receive God's imspiration than Christ?
Wiser than God the Father?
Considering the time when Bible was written:
- about 3000 years before that there lived on earth the most glorious human civilisation.
(In hinduism they are known as deityes).
- about 600 years before from this civilisation the Hindus emerged. Those Hindus lived on the banks of a river called Hindu from which their land was named HinduSthan and as devotional pracite they used to build temples in which they worshiped the deityes.
- about 100 years before Christ and the christians emerged within the existing civilisation. Then the New Testament was written from whatever the disciples remember and from however much they understood of Christ's wisdom.
After the Bible was written it has been periodically modiffyed according to my brother who is a Christian Priest.
One of the possible reasons why there are so many branches of Christianity could be that every time the Bible was modified some would remain faithful to the old version and others who would embrace the new version.
My personal oppinion is that Christ was obviously much wiser than the disciples so if He wanted His widsom to survive He would have written His own ... Bible ... Spiritual Teachings Manual... whatever...
I bet He new noone could write it better than Him.
What do you think?.....:)

The Bible is a collection of books with over 40 different authors, written over a 2000+ year period. The earliest books may date back to a time before the Hindu. They cover the histroy of that time, but as we have no still existing manuscripts that old, we can not prove they were (or weren't) actually written that early.
The Bible is normally divided into two sections, called the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament covers the time from creation to about 400 years before the birth of Jesus Christ. It appears to have reached it final form around 400 years before Christ. (About 2,400 years ago).
The New Testament was written over a 60-70 year period following the life of Jesus Christ. While the individual books were around, they were first collected into a single book around 200 years after the birth of Jesus. (That is when "books" were invented. Before that there were only scrolls, which would have been to heavy and awkward to use if that many documents (27) were put into one scroll.
There still exist today over 2,300 copies of the New Testament books dating from the early years of the Christian faith. These have been found all across Europe, Asia and Africa. They demonstrate that the Bible translations from which Christians read today is an accurate and reliable translation of the original documents
.
So, there is no one "author" of the Bible, unless you acknowledge that God himself was the one behind all of the books in it, guiding and inspiring men to write them.

Hindu is just what you said, a religion. When Christ came, he came to abolish religion, not create another one, but to bring us into a relationship with God. No one in their right mind would lay down their life simply to start another religion. Muhammad didn't, Buddha didn't, and all others who started their own religion did not die for the cause of creating that religion. If Christ were simply bringing more religion into the world, I imagine, he would not have died for it. However, there is something greater in Christ than what religion can offer, he died to bring us this wonderful gift, which is life. Men indeed did write the books of the Bible, but check out how all of these books, though written by different men seem to align themselves to the same basic doctrine, and this is covering a period of over 4,000 years. So, 4,000 years, 40 writers, 1 doctrine = one Author. Pretty amazing! BTW, for my friend above me; there are by far more ancient documents supporting the validity of the Old Testament books than Hindu could ever hope to discover. Know your facts kid. My hope is you simply misunderstood the facts your priestly brother gave you, if not then don't believe him either.

Moses is credited for the first five books of the Old Testament: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy which are called the Pentetuch. These books cover creation to his own death at the end of Deuteronomy. It's been suggested that another person, who took over the spiritual leadership of the Israelites, completed Deuteronomy.
The books of Joshua, Judges, and Ruth are historical documents written before or during the reign of King David presumably by priestly historians.
The Psalms were written by King David, Moses, Solomon, the sons of Korah, the sons of Asaph and Ethan the Ezrahite. There are also some Psalms that were written anonymously.
Proverbs, Song of Solomon, and Ecclesiastes were written by King Solomon, though chapters 30 and 31 of Proverbs were written by Agur and Lemuel respectively.
Isaiah, Hosea, Amos, Jonah, Micah, Nahum and Zephaniah were the prophets who penned the books with their names.
The writers of Samuel, Kings, Esther, and Job are unnamed.
Habakkuk, Joel, Obadiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi were written by the prophets' named respectively.
Jeremiah wrote both Lamentations and Jeremiah while Ezra wrote Ezra, Nehemiah and possibly Chronicles.
In the New Testament, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John wrote their gospels and Luke also wrote the book of Acts. Paul is responsible for the Pauline Letters which are Romans, 1st Corinthians, 2nd Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1st Thessalonians, 2nd Thessalonians, 1st Timothy, 2nd Timothy, Titus, and Philemon.
Peter of the Twelve Disciples wrote 1st and 2nd Peter. John, the Disciple that Jesus loved, wrote 1st, 2nd, and 3rd John and also Revelation.
The book of James has been credited to James the brother of Jesus and the book of Jude was written by Jude the bother of James. Hebrews has been ascribed to the Apostle Paul but is generally considered to have been written anonymously.
How many people wrote the Bible? Although the actual count of the authors of the Bible is 40, there wouldn't be the history and stories without the people who lived and told them.
