Looking for something small and cheap but also reliable. Would like to spend around $5000 and I know that's not much but I've actually found a lot of vehicles in this price range so I know I can find something. Any advice? Been looking at the Rav 4, Ford Escape, 4 Runner, Jeep Grand Cherokee...etc...Just need something that will be reliable for the next few years. Not much longer then 2 or 3 years so that's why I'm looking for something cheap!

I need something for only 2-3 years because I'm in school and I can't afford anything more then that. Come on peoples, please just answer the question! lol... Personally my preference is a Toyota but I know I'm going to spend more for a Toyota!

suggest youlog on to "edmunds.com". they have reviews and opinions by owners and professionals in which they give you repair and performance of many autos. better info than in this forum.

Jeep Cherokees (grand or not) are pretty good vehicles.
They will run for at least 200,000 miles if you take decent care of them. They'll also probably be in the cheaper portion of your list.
I had a 1992 box-type Cherokee and the dude who has it now turned it over to 320,000 without a problem.

Seems that you are looking at some good models, but at the $5000.00 price range, you might be buying a something that is going to need maintance / replacement items. Like tires, brakes, and so on. You also might consider a Subaru Forester..Very well rated. You would be looking at the 98 to 2002 model years. Good Luck
