Japanese uses three scripts:
kanji 漢字
hiragana ひらがな
and katakana カタカナ

you have to learn 1 language to be able to see the difference. cause chinese japanese and korean writings all look similar. but when you learn 1 language, it is easy to spot the difference.

however, they share some characters... like the numbers in chinese and japanese, not sure with the korean numbers though...

The easiest way to differentiate it is: Chinese only uses ideograms however Japanese uses in addition Katakana and Hiragana writtings.

both use hanji/kanji.
but japanese have 2 more syllabic writing system.
