Why do you address this to Americans? No Americans took part in the Crusades ya know.

Hypothesis contrary to fact. Saying if the Crusades had been "successful" we might not have had 9/11 is like wondering if you had been just 2 inches to the right or left would've meant not getting hit by lightning; you'll never know, because you did in fact get hit by lightning.

Besides, I see no difference between the Crusades and 9/11 in the sense that both were perpetrated by religious nutjobs: the crusades by the Vatican, and 9/11 by the ones who were created by the vatican- muslims of the islamic (catholic) religion.

The seven Crusades were supposed to be a holy war (if one can ever consider warfare to be sanctified by anyone) and a means of "liberating" Jerusalem but they turned out to be more of an excuse to pillage, rape, murder and plunder the various states through which the Crusader armies traversed whether they be Christian, Muslim, or Jewish.

For an unbiased history see http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/sbook1k.html . The Crusades created such hatred and distrust from the Muslim point-of-view as to have been a disaster both militarily (Jerusalem eventually fell out of Christian control) and socially. The effects and animosity are still felt by many to this day and therefore the Crusades not only failed but were a disaster.

And, no I'm not a follower of Islam.

May all be at peace.

The medieval "Crusade" was a holy war. For a conflict to be officially considered a Crusade, it had to be sanctioned by the pope and conducted against groups seen as enemies of Christendom.
Initially, only those expeditions to the Holy Land (Jerusalem and associated territory) were considered Crusades. More recently, historians have also recognized campaigns against heretics, pagans and Muslims in Europe as Crusades.
How the Crusades Began:

For centuries, Jerusalem had been governed by Muslims, but they tolerated Christian pilgrims because they helped the economy. Then, in the 1070s, Turks (who were also Muslim) conquered these holy lands and mistreated Christians before realizing how useful their good will (and money) could be. The Turks also threatened the Byzantine Empire. Emperor Alexius asked the pope for assistance, and Urban II, seeing a way to harness the violent energy of Christian knights, made a speech calling for them to take back Jerusalem. Thousands responded, resulting in the First Crusade.

St. Francis of Assisi, and other Cathol;ics, felt the Crusades was a mistake.

The crusades were a misguided effort by the church, and a financial plan by the English government. America was not involved with that one. 9-11 would have happened either way. Another misguided religious agenda, and govermental fiasco.
I hate it when people bring up information out of their butts.

The ' Knights Templar' [ so called Christians] killed more Muslims when they won battles, than did the Muslims, when they won.
The Christians carried out their ' crusade' based on a false premise. that God valued real estate.
If He did, why then would He have allowed, and had his son, Jesus, prophecy that Jerusalem would be reduced to rubble by the Roman army in 70 C.E.?

First, not ALL Americans are of European descent.
Second, the world would have been better off if the Mongols had not stopped at Eastern Europe. They should have taken over the whole known world. Then everyone would have been united under one governing body that provided a freedom of religion for all.

We would have had 9-11 regardless. It was written into the program.
