I know 2 Aussies, they are insanely similar to us Americans. Same kind of raunchy humor, manerisms, body language, etc......I guess the only really big difference I ever felt was the language........some different words, and of course a different accent. Good people overall.
But I wouldn't want to judge a whole continent based on only a couple of people.
Cheers!

I'm have been teaching English in various countries for the past ten years, and I have met many Aussies. I could give you the same answer for Americans, Canadians, British, Kiwis, and so on. I can only evaluate them as individuals. For example I have met obnoxious people, gentle people, arrogant people, compassionate people, intelligent people, down to earth people, and so on from all of the countries above.

If I were to generalize, I would have to say that most of the Aussies I have known in my life were good folks. But, I suppose you are looking for any potentially negative criticism as well. The only thing I can say about that is that its not much fun being the only American in a bar full of drunken Aussies in a mutually foreign country. But it goes without saying that if the situation were to be reversed, it would probably be the same for a lone Aussie. Now, I have heard from many Americans that when they went to Australia, that they had a grand time getting drunk in a bar full of Aussies. There's just something about the familiarity of hanging out with your fellow countrymen/women in foreign countries. Meaning to say, that sense of homesickness seems to get people from the same country to run in packs, and being the only one from your home country, you sometimes get left out.

Anyway, like I said, this can apply to any nationality. It's just a situational occurrence, not a critique of Aussies in general. I am in China now and have well over twenty Aussie friends. For the most part, everyone gets on rather well.

I love Aussies. You have the most charming way of speaking and on the whole seem like a very happy, funny group of people. I would rather live in beautiful Australia than US anyday. Many of my British relatives are moving to Australia and New Zealand.

I'm American and know an Australian. He acts very politely and speaks w/an "accent" that Americans love. One time he got into an altercation in a traffic jam. The other person got very violent until he heard my friend speak. Then he said to my friend, "Crocodile Dundee! May I have your autograph!" So my friend's polite demeanor and the way he spoke may have saved him from a violent action!

Hey (I'm the person who asked the Wing-T question). If you don't like a certain sport or activity, you don't have to make fun of it. I'm not obsessed about football (although I know several people who fit your description). I was just curious because I am into my school's athletics, and many of my friends play sports. Also, I'm sure that there are plenty of things that I could make fun of you for because you are Australian, but I'm not that kind of a person. I'm not mad about what you said, I just want to make sure that you know that it wasn't truthful (and that Yahoo Answers may crack down on "abusive" answers like yours).
