He is 6 months old and he ALWAYS wants attention. Always want to play, always wants to cuddle or at least sleep next to me. He will literally not sleep if he sees me doing something... he'll stand around, watching over my shoulder. He might fall asleep but he wakes up quickly whenever he thinks I'm up to something. Very nosy. I know that he's just an affectionate cat but sometimes I think is it normal for a cat to be this clingy? People say that cats are independent but mine certainly isn't! He loves to be with people, especially me, and he hates being alone.

Cats are like people -- it takes all kinds! My kitty is very insecure, too. She went through about four owners in two years before settling down with us, so I think that has something to do with it. Also, I'm not around all the time, so she wants to make up for lost time.

You might try leaving the radio on for her when you're gone, and maybe a hot water bottle or stuffed toy for her to cuddle.

Your kitty is still young and looking for some mothering. He wants to play and needs a playmate. You are both for him. He will become more independent as he gets older, but for now and the next few months you are both littermate and mom.
Also, some cats are just naturally gregarious and curious. I had a wonderful tomcat that would come out to greet anyone that came to the door then after getting a pat and a minute of attention would turn around and go back to his sleeping spot. Each one is different and unique. Give him as much love as you can and you will be rewarded with a wonderful pet.

I have a cat the same way. He really has a nose problem!
I just talk to him and give him a little pet and keep doing what I am doing. He eventually sees I am not as interesting as he thought!

I got another kitten aobut mponths younger and he still is very nosey but a lot of his attention is now given to his little playmate.

He's a happy boy and I can have a breather!

i think it's a good thing that he wants attention and likes people.i think it's better than quiet, fat, way too independant cats.i suggest you play with him and feed him regularly.he'll soon get tired once he plays and every cat needs sleep :)

you have a cat with a companion attitude. he wants to be just that. if you don't need a companion, don't get a pet that will be like the human companion you don' have.
