If you think you have a poor memory, you may just have some less-than-effective habits when it comes to taking in and processing information. Barring disease, disorder, or injury, you can improve your ability to learn and retain information.
General Guidelines for Improving Memory
Pay attention. You can’t remember something if you never learned it, and you can’t learn something — that is, encode it into your brain — if you don’t pay enough attention to it. It takes about eight seconds of intent focus to process a piece of information through your hippocampus and into the appropriate memory center. So no multitasking when you need to concentrate. If you distract easily, try to receive information in a quiet place where you won’t be interrupted.
Tailor information acquisition to your learning style. Most people are visual learners; they learn best by reading or otherwise seeing what it is they have to know. But some are auditory learners who learn better by listening. They might benefit by recording information they need and listening to it until they remember it.
Involve as many senses as possible.Even if you’re a visual learner, read out loud what you want to remember. If you can recite it rhythmically, even better. Try to relate information to colors, textures, smells and tastes. The physical act of rewriting information can help imprint it onto your brain.
Relate information to what you already know.Connect new data to information you already remember, whether it’s new material that builds on previous knowledge or an address of someone who lives on a street where you already know someone.
Organize information.Write things down in address books and datebooks and on calendars; take notes on more complex material and reorganize the notes into categories later. Use both words and pictures in learning information.
Understand and be able to interpret complex material. For more complex material, focus on understanding basic ideas rather than memorizing isolated details. Be able to explain it to someone else in your own words.
Rehearse information frequently and “overlearn.”Review what you’ve learned the same day you learn it, and review it at intervals thereafter. What researchers call “spaced rehearsal” is more effective than “cramming.” If you’re able to “overlearn” information so that recalling it becomes second nature, so much the better.
Be motivated and keep a positive attitude.Tell yourself that you want to learn what you need to remember and you can learn and remember it. Telling yourself you have a bad memory actually hampers the ability of your brain to remember, while positive mental feedback sets up an expectation of success.

I'm sorry I don't have an answer, but I will keep checking this. I am only 20 and I have the same problems. it actually causes alot of fights between my boyfriend and I. Mostly I forget dumb little things, like the atm card in the machine(4 times), but I have noticed that recently I have been forgetting very important conversations that i have with my bf. Its like they are totally blacked out from my memory, but sometimes a few months or so later i remember it like it was happening at the time. I hope you get an answer, and i dont think its a laughing matter either...good luck

Are you avoiding Carbohydrates? Like things made with flour? The day I discovered that I had a food allergy to everything made with flour, I avoided it like the plague. I didn't realize that I can eat other flours such as Rice/Tapioca/etc. that were gluten free.
While in the process of not eating anything made with "Flour" I proceeded to go completely mental, as I used to put the cereal in the fridge, and the milk in the cupboard, my keys where the bananas should be hanging, and other stupid brainless stuff!
Eat more carbs!! You may not be getting enough! "Stress" is a doctor's way of saying "He doesn't know the answer." lol. Been there, done that.

Hi there!!!!!!
Everything which we speak aloud gets stored in our long term memory. we have two types of memory in the brain, long and short.
but we only recall things which are interesting to us. there are different things are interesting for different people. but there are certain things like sex in which mostly everybody is interested in. we also tend to remember things which give us pain, fear or some kind of relief. Eg we generally remember getting prizes or appreciations, or fights because they give us stress, pain and tension. so interesting or extraordinary things are remembered easily.
so the trick is to relate a boring thing or normal thing with an interesting thing like if u want to remember a teacher's birthday. Join some extraordinary things with it. Say 12 September is her birthday then think on 12 September will slap her or murder her or go to the college and beat her with an iron rod.
Stupid and illogical things are also hard to forget. Eg relate a story that on 12 September I will rule the world or i will float in the air or any thing stupid.
BUy Kevin Treaduea 's Mega Memory. It's is an american product.
I bought it in New Delhi (India). that product will definately solve your problem. it contains text and audio cassettes. all this information is sourced from there.
Hope this answer is useful to us.
JUst bless me and give me good wishes and success in life if u like my answer.

There are foods that can cause this.
Most of them are not available in USA but some times they slip by the inspections. If you are exposed to them then there is not much can be done.
Besides there are books and there are classes and there are tricks find them on line in the library and take advantage of this available resources.

Yes, it is rather early for you to forget things. Are you eating healthy food? Such as nuts & fish should be in your diet. If you don't remember things jot them down. Btw, how did you do in school? Did you remember your course for tests or exams? If you are working or looking for one this will become a problem for you so try to cure it asap. You need concentration!!

If it is serious, tell your doctor to do blood test and check if you have something low or high. Especially check for vitamin b12 level.
