You gave an odd example of bad luck. Seeing a polar bear in the desert would be highly unusual and the poor thing would probably die of heat exhaustion! As for "bad luck", that is when you are trying to do something or go somewhere (usually in a hurry or under pressure), and things just go the wrong way. For example, you are late for your doctor appointment, so you decide to speed down the road on which you have never seen a policeman. However, you have bad luck today because the police department decided to post an officer on that street starting today! That is bad luck. Chain of events that are not normally expected.

Bad luck are bad things happening beyond my control!

A funny bad luck I had once had, was buying a green tea soft ice cream, eating it on the street and having a hawk grab it out of my hands, and then not flying away high enough with it so that I ended up having the ice cream in my face and on my white T-Shirt which came....well...with green spots afterwards.

Bad luck may befall a knitter who leaves a project unfinished. It also transcends to the person you intended on giving the finished product to. So if you are knitting a newborn a pair of booties and you do not complete this task, you may be causing bad luck to someone who hasn?t even started out in life. They need all the luck they can get! When taking a break from knitting, it is unlucky to stab needles through the yarn ball that you are using. Whoever wears what you created from that yarn will bring them bad luck

Bad luck is going to another city and while turning back your car's motor suddenly stops. To call the help you walk 2 kilometers in your beautiful newly bought high heels. and while waiting you see a mouse nearby the road and jump everywhere and everybody passing by looks at you like you are there to entertain people!!!

Bad Luck for me was simply eating pork then getting a call saying that my 35 year old ex-husband has had a massive heart attack that needs immediate surgery. Upon arrival at the hospital, was banned by his parents, called names and eventually left stuck with a massive hospital bill.

Don't ask how much. I paid for it as a gesture of my penance.

Seeing a polar "beer" in the desert would be rather lucky, actually. Ice-cold refreshment.

Seeing a polar bear in the desert would make me think they were filming a Coca-Cola commercial somewhere nearby. That or I was in a zoo in Dubai.
