sounds similar to my girl. we went for a holiday. and it just happen that i forgot to bring the pacifier. So when she needs it while going to sleep...i told her that mummy don't have the pacifier. So she cried and it was terrible cause she scream. Somehow, i carried her and hug her till she sleep. It took me 3 days continuosly...and then she is not looking for the pacifier any more. be patient to your kid. It takes time.

You have to realize that sooner or later that pacifier has to go, because it will lead to having dental problems and yes, he will loose his baby teeth but they're a foundation to having strong and healthy permanent teeth.
Sometimes reasoning may work but may not always work with kids, especially one so young. You have to be tough and realize that you're doing this out of love and for his best interest.
You can distract him with other things when he wants his pacifier. And when it comes to discipline or establishing some thing such as a bed time routine, Constancy is key.

my daughter, who's 25 months now, stopped using pacifier when she was already 18 months old... What happened was, we went to my moms house, and i forgot to bring it... She cried most of the time, esp when it was nap/sleeping time... what we did was, we talked to her, and made her hug on to her pillow, driving her attention away from the pacifier and making her feel comfortable with hugging the pillow instead... i also rubbed her back gently, wherever she wants to be rubbed, so as to help her go to sleep... it was very difficult the first two days, but she definitely got the hang of it... The key is PATIENCE, and it would help to start early... Good Luck!!!

Just get rid of it he'll get over it.This is why I did't give my daughter a pacifier it just gives them something else to cry for.

the best bet is just take them all and throw them away. hes young enough that he will forget all about it real quick. do it now it will only get worse if you wait
