Assume I have a handicap of 25

It's used when players are getting strokes based on their handicap. If a hole is rated 18, it's the easiest hole on the course. A person with an 18 handicap would get one stroke on that hole. A person with a 17 handicap wouldn't get any. A hole rated #1 would be the toughest hole on the course.

If your handicap is 25, you would get one stroke on holes ranked 8-18 and 2 strokes on each hole ranked 1-7.

The stroke index is the way the club has rated the difficulty of the hole you are playing , example is if it is stroke index 1 it is supposed to be the hardest hole on the course going thorough them AL until you get to 18 which should be the easiest on the course . they have a stroke index to help even out the course for match play and stable ford comps, example - if you play of 10 then you will receive one shot on the holes indexed 1 to 10, in stableford this means a Gross 5 on a par 4 will turn into a nett par and you will receive 2 points in math play if you play of 18 and your opponent plays of 10 then he will be giving you 8 shots but you may only receive the shots on the holes indexed 1 to 8 meaning that if you get a par on stroke index he has to get a birdie to half the hole with you and so on i hope this has been some help it really is easier than it looks lol.

Stroke Index

the stroke index tells the player how hard the whole is to score a par.for example index 1 is the hardest hole and index 18 the easiest on that course. So if you have a handicap of 25 you would recieve 2 shots per hole on index 1 through to 7 and 1 shot per hole 8 through to 18 making 25 in total.

like the answers above but the index is best used for stableford comp. and match play in stableford if your hardest hole is a par 5 (index 1) you get 2 shot so if you take 7 to complete the hole, take your 2 shots of, you then have a 5 and (2 points.) 2 pts for a par, 3 pts for birdie, 4 pts for eagle, 1 pts for 1 over par, stableford helps speed up the game so if you take to many shots your not going to get any points so you pick up and walk on, hope this is as clear as mud

I dont know why you bother..

As long as you have had your card marked correctly...signed it...and handed it in.

Its the tournament committes responsibility to work out the (final-handicap adjusted) score and placements.

By asking this question "I will assume" you dont have a 25 H/C :)
