I hate to burst your bubble here, but "NDEs" have been proved by medical science to be hallucinatory states brought about by cerebral hypoxia (lack of oxygen to the brain) and fueled by pre-conceived notions regarding the "afterlife." The religion and psychic industries latched onto them and turned them into something they're not.
Nothing miraculous about them; it's just the physiology of a dying brain. Sorry to ruin your day.
Gnostic: Don't believe everything you see on the Discovery Channel. There have been many shows lately attempting to "prove" supernatural phenomena and biblical "history." They can make up anything they want, and interpret or manipulate data however they wish, to make a particular point; given the kind of network they are, people will more likely swallow whatever they put on the screen.
My nursing experience (30+ years), and the resources I have read, paint a different picture. However, I have no desire to argue; believe whatever you like.

I wasn't pronounced dead because no one was there to pronounce me dead. I slit my left wrist and caught the blood in a bathroom garbage can. I grew weak then passed out. I woke with my hand sealed in congealed blood that probably saved my life. When I pulled my hand from the blood it spurted three feet with each heartbeat and I had to hold it closed while I sat there gaining strength for the next six hours. I passed out several more times before I could get back inside.
The reason I was struggling to live was that when I passed out I KNOW I died. I was somewhere else, and nowhere, and everywhere and light was all around but for all it's super nova brightness it wasn't uncomfortable, it didn't hurt my eyes. The light was love, coherent and warm, and such peace as I've never known. I know I was in the presence of God. I felt like I was there for an eternity and for an instant and then I felt one question: Do you know what it is to be loved? I felt the answer was no. I felt the retort, “Then know now." Then I was cold and struggling to breath. Sitting on the hard uncaring sand of the California desert.
I hope this helped.

They just had a special on Discovery about NDE's where they used MRI to view which parts of the brain are active in people that had experienced near death. They found different areas are active from everyone else. They tried all kinds of people and everyone used pretty much the same parts of the brain as each other except the NDE people and all NDE's were similar to one another. Then they found the same pattern in Nuns and wondering if there was a spiritual component tried Buddhist monks and found the same areas active as NDE's and Nuns. In short your claim of dying brain syndrome is uninformed and far from accurate. I'm sure you can find the show by scanning through the Discovery channel web site. God Bless.

I have never had a NDE but I have gone into a IBE, Inner Body Experience and have experienced the reality of my higher Being of Light. The light that people see in the NDE is that of their own higher being of light, or reality their own soul self which is the mental mind and higher authentic self. In Tibetan Buddhism they know it as Clear light mind.
I had an experience when I was 17 and I was contemplating suicide for some reason that is probably dumb now (as there is no reason to even think it), but I then went into an experience, that just can't truly be expressed with words.
Peace!

I am hesitant to write about this, but.............
While giving birth to my second child, I began to hemorrhage profusely and my heart stopped. I literally died.
I ended up floating above my body, watching as the medical staff worked over me, trying to bring me back. I felt no pain, and felt detatched from it all.
I could something very bright way above me somewhere. I wanted to move closer to it. But I went back down into my body.
Now whether this was a true NDE or whether it was a hallucination, I can't say. But it really did happen to me.
