It dries out your hair and scalp. It also removes the natural oils from your hair. Leaves a soap film on your hair. Makes your scalp tight and itchy.

Put it this way.. When we kids were little there were very few shampoos and nearly everybody washed their bodies and hair with soap. Not the lovely toilet soap of today but things like Lifebouy( don't know if it is still made) Or Wrights coal tar soap. Our hair never seemed to come to any harm from using these rather harsh soaps.. Shampoos never really became available until we were well in our 20's. Try a mild soap like Simple and see what you think.

It becomes hard to comb through, dull, and somewhat gooey. Try Nexus products, the fragrance is made to leave your hair after you rinse it out, but it smells great while you are shampooing. They are salon products that are great for your hair, so wash your hair using just a very small amount. They are made concentrated for that reason. Just wash your hair once a week for the best results and cost, combined.
By the way, Ivory is plain soap. Have you ever seen what a mess it makes in the tub? You do not want that in your hair, I promise you!

It will definitely clean your hair really well, but it will also dry your hair. There has been suggestions to wash your hair with dish soap to simply just wash out your dye or to clean your hair really well, but it was only suggested to NOT wash your hair with soap TOO MUCH, maybe a couple times a year only... or since you have short hair it wouldn't be too bad to go as low as once a month. Just try it and see it for yourself, it can't be too bad for you since you have short hair and just like to style it with gel... I think it would be good for you since you don't like oil in shampoo. Ohh yea come to think of it its not bad at all my boyfriend uses soap to wash his hair everynight and his hair is fine haha he says it feels good and clean. So just go for it, what I said earlier is dish soap which is a lot stronger than regular soap, sorry !!

You shouldn't have any ill effects whatsoever, but soaps also contain chemicals that you might not want on your skin. Try the LUSH range of solid shampoos that come in bar form, they seem expensive, but last for ages and are very kind to the skin and hair, leaving a lovely shine.

I have a long and straight hair. I tried using the soap for one week alternate with shampoo and conditioner when I found out that I have too much hair fall. It's quite good but I think its not good also to use everyday because the reason why manufacturers have different classifications for these is for us to use them properly. I also have a friend who is using bar soap - the one we use in washing our clothes and she said she enjoyed it because she use to style her hair everyday. She said it's easier to style.

During the last War years, we washed our hair in anything we could get! Often the green or yellow bars used for washing dishes (not at the same time!) - no washing-up liquids. I've used the equivalent of "Fairy" liquid when camping. Had no problems with stickiness and at 70, my hairdresser still needs to thin my hair when I have it cut so it it obviously good and healthy. Give it a go!

For some reason, I used to wash my hair with soap when I was a little girl. It does clean well, but the tangles were my biggest problem. I wash my hair with unscented Oatmeal shampoo, it doesn't lather much but it really helps with scalp problems!

Yes, it's seem unlucky to have a little hair, me too. But last month i had go to beauty shop, then they advise me to wash my hair with free soap of natural shampoo. Yes, it's work well with my hair. You just try to wash your with the ripe tamarind or the skin of small sour orange 2 times a week.
Try it and good luck!

It gets clean. Shampoos have residual chemicals that stay in you hair to give it a certian feel, bar soap does not have that extra stuff in it and cleans the hair and leaves nothing behind. You hair will actually be cleaner. I wash my hair with bar soap and have for years.
