it feels nice to prey to something sometimes. Even though I don't know what it is or if it exists. Im a theist i guess but i don't affirm anything like you mention. I might in fact be an atheist. It just feels good to prey, even though i might be lying to myself. either way this question has been around since the dawn of time. write a book if you think your so smart that you have the answers. Even if your a genius i doubt your smart enough to convince many to give up their faith.

All various versions of the same thing.
And yet in other "Questions" people have the nerve to ask why the World Trade Towers were destroyed and how can someone do the things terrorists do?
All of that and this is just the difference of degree.
There are multiple realities...there is the reality from the other party's perspective, there is the reality from your perspective and there is the truth.Religion, any religion, only feeds the individuals perspective which is safe. When it feeds the individual and the other party's perspective you have the beginnings of a religion or a cult (there is a difference between a cult and a religion).
When we all share the same perspective and in it find the "truth" then we will be face to face with God.
All religions are betting on their belief that they have found the "truth".
But from the other party's perspective........
Back to the three perspectives again......and again...and again.
I guess what it just may come down to is humanities desire to live forever...Ultimately, "religion" is the answer to our own question...."Is there anything else?" or "Is this it?"..."There HAS to be more than this...hasn't there?"..."Why are we here?"
Don't you see? It's all the same question really..."Is there a God?". ...We just got tired of waiting for an answer.
Personally I do believe in God.Weather it is because of honest contemplation or due to years of upbringing in a Christian family I can't tell because I am only looking at it from MY perspective.

I am impressed by the ability of logic and science to explain, with accuracy, everyday events, and predict the outcomes of well studied and evaluated systems. There are things about existence that it is possible to know with a certain amount of certainty.
One of these is probability. The rules of probability state that, in eternity, anything that is possible must happen sooner or later. A supreme and eternal being is possible. Therefore, there simply has to be one.
For a long time, I suspected there was no God, until I arrived at the above conclusion, and changed my mind. I since discovered that, of course, it was not original with me, but then originality is not a hallmark of truth.

I do not affirm an ability to know about Deities.
I affirm, after a life time of study and thought, an ability to know about Life. Our life.
And I know that there are no Deities that wish for us to know about them.
We, as humans have not a single shred of credible evidence about spirits or Deities.
We do however, have tons of evidence as to what comprises this life and this planet, this galaxy, and this Universe.
That is what I study, and that is what I know.

their is none and everytime I look for such I find evidence to the contrary . affirm the ability to be real in a real world and you might gain the insight to make a real improvment . avoid affirming snake oil when the barker comes to town.

They follow a simple formula:
1. My parents/pastor/best friend are good people
2. Good people don't lie
3. Therefore what my parents/pastor/friends have told me about the world is true.

I don't know why not. We believe in so many other things we don't actually see.
