Do any of those who follow him by calling yourself Christians today fast? I know Catholics have this Lent fast, but is it the same as Christ's fast?

Christ had his fast after his baptism, but that is the only recorded fast I can think of.

Matthew 6 gives Christ's directions on fasting. He leads it with "When you fast..." (Matthew 6:16) suggesting that fasting is not an option but a command (if it was an option it would read "IF you fast..."). Matthew 9 again brings up the issue of when Christ's followers should fast (v/s 14-17).

Yes He did. I am Christian and yes I've fasted. I'm not Catholic so I'm not sure on the Lent fast other than Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights in the desert and their fast is 40 days and nights.

Jesus fasted for 40 days in the wilderness right after he was baptized at the age of 30. That was when he was tempted by the devil.

Some Christians fast - Jesus recommends prayer and fasting to draw closer to God and to prepare yourself to do God's work.

No it isn't the same if you ask me because Christ literally starved for 40 days and Catholics just stop eating meat but they still eat fish and vegetables and fruit. Christ even rebuked Satan in the desert after starving and did not perform a miracle of turning something into food in order to quench his hunger and thirst. Satan was tempting him by asking him to show that he was the son of god and to prove it by performing a miracle.

Christ did fast when he was tempted by the Devil.

He never asked us to fast, so I don't.

Fast?

Well, he certainly didn't run fast enough when those Romans caught him & crucified him!

Must have been the off season - & he wasn't in training!
