"Do humans just have a huge collective ego."
No. Not all of us. I don't believe I am part of a 'collective', just an individual.
Religionists often subscribe very strongly to the notion of a human race as a 'collective', as in 'we', as in 'we are all sinners' etc etc.
This, in tandem with their all-encompassing anthropocentricity, explains a great deal about what they believe, and why they believe the universe was 'created for them'.
I find the concept to be obscenely arrogant. Which, ironically, is what they often call me for not believing in their mythos.
Ho hum.

I don't happen to believe the universe was created for humans, but I don't think it's sick to think of it as created for our benefit. It certainly is of some benefit to us.
For many of us our world consists of the things we can see and touch. Those things are pretty much created for us and that is probably sufficient for most of us.
Personally I like the idea of being part of something as big as the universe, and find the whole concept rather exciting.

Well, as the Earth certainly isn't 10,000 years old as it says in the Bible. Nor did humans live with Dinosaurs and the Earth is flat. Oh don't forget that the Earth is the center of the Universe. Thank goodness for corpinecus, and Galileo. Thank science as well for us living longer then those in the Bible.

Who said it was "created for humans" ?? No omnipotent "being" created it either. It's here, we're here, that's all. Get over it and move on with your lives.

It's silly. The universe was created for God to display his glory, his creativity and his majesty. We just happen to be alive to enjoy the works of his hands & worship him for who he is and what he has done.
