I have a Savage Model 12FLV 22-250cal. I'm looking for a scope in the $100 price range. I use this gun for coyotes. Would it be wise to get a 50mm rather than a 40mm? Should I get a scope with a sun shade?
I've looked at Cabela's and Sportsman's Guide, lot of scopes. I just dont know what I should get. I don't want to spend to much, as I'm on a tight budget.

Any help or advice would help me in picking the right scope for my upcoming coyote hunt.
Thank you.

charlsyeh- I stated in line two, that $100 dollars is my budget for the scope.
As for a Leupold scope, I'm well aware of how good these bad boys are. I borrowed a 22-250 w/ a Leupold from a friend, before I bought my own 22-250. I was very impressed with it and wish I could have kept the scope.

I should have mentioned, that I'm also looking for a cheap scope in the $100 range for my Remington Woodmaster 742.

I would go with a Bushnell Banner it is in your price range and is a good scope I like mine
here is a link to the Bushnell Banner I have at midwayusa

I have this one on a 30/06 I use for deer hunting
I like the 50mm scopes as well just a little more feild of view and light gathering but they will not sit as low on the rifle as a 40mm so that is up to you
never used or felt i needed a sun shade

Check out the Bushnell line or BSA. The 40 mm objective lens should do you fine and I doubt you will find a good scope with a 50 mm objective for under $100.

check out Konus scopes and Mueller. Both have on line sites and great products in their price range. I have three Muellers and love them. The 50 mm allows more light generally, but a the cost of being higher off the bore. Sunshades are great, in a pinch you can use a bit of tape and the cardboard insert on a roll of toilet paper.
