I'm 19 turning 20 in a few months.I've suffered from Iron deficiency since I was about 13 and have gotten quite a few blood tests done since then.Lately I've noticed that I seem to bruise quite easily even to the extend that my last blood test left me with a bruise from the needle which has never happened to be before and I didn't lift anything heavy all day like the told me too.I've been having sinus infections and colds pretty much all this year and my immune system just seems really week. The last time I cut my thumb it bled for ages and I seem to get bone pain a lot.My last blood test was to look at my hormone levels mainly as well as my iron levels in the blood and came back fine for everything. If I did have leukaemia would it show in the test?If this isn't leukaemia, what could it be?

Rest assured the possibility of Leukemia is very remote . Your problem is a much less serious condition . It would be wise to investigate further with additional tests as stated above . There are many other reasons to have the reactions you are having , and can be controlled with professional advise . It might be a clotting disorder and a vit. K deficiency .

I'm a retired Hematology and Oncology specialist. The chances of leukemia are slim in this situation. If you have taken any aspirin or motrin / ibuprofen you could easily have bleeding and bruising from the effects on platelets. The effects of one aspirin may last a week to ten days. The venipuncture with your last blood test may have been a bit off target leading to unusual bleeding too. There are many explanations for you symptoms other than leukemia - BUT, as answers above say, the easy way to find out is to simply have a CBC with WBC differential. Your doctor should be able to allay your fears. Check it out so you don't have to worry. OK.

Your symptoms do not necessarily mean you have leukemia. To be clarified with everything and for your health's sake, you need to see a doctor and do some tests. A complete blood count (CBC) with differential will definitely give some clues on your condition. A few more tests may be required.

Leukaemia can often be detected by an abnormal white blood cell reading on a full blood count. If you are concerned about your health you should consult your family doctor.

well if u bruise easily and keep bleeding, it suggests that your blood isn't clotting for some reason

this could be due to a lot of things, liver problems, vitamin K deficiency, drugs...

I agree with most of the above but, along with a CBC, would recommend having coagulation studies done (PT, aPTT) which will help determine if your clotting time is normal.
