If we knew the answer to this question we would be able to resolve much of the world's problems, wouldn't we?

Because they invariably belong to a religion that teaches that it is the only true religion and that all others are enemies of God. If people took personal responsibility for their spitituality instead of blindly following this 'one true voice of God' maybe it would be a more peaceful world. Oh, and gelfin is wrong, the ENTIRE Bible does not teach that. The NT is completely the opposite. Jesus said that love of God and love of neighbour where the whole of the law.

True Christians do NOT kill anyone , no matter what they may say or do against them.
That is commanded form the Bible , so if any Christian participates in any thing like this, or goes to war , then they ARE NOT truly following GOD.
It is that simple.

If you get defensive about God, then you're not gonna kill someone. It's when it turns to offensive that someone /might/ kill someone. Why? Ask why to anyone that goes killing. ultimately, it's an illogical motive.

In the Bible, God repeatedly COMMANDS his followers to kill other people. It's just that few really obey him.

What they preach is what they've been told for their whole lives. Go against that and, forbid, corner them with reason and turn them into a sputtering mess, they're going to be lost without their old ideas to cling to. And they'll do what it takes to protect those ideas. To hell with the commandments, they'll kill you anyhow.

poor thinking gets poor results someone should at least leave it up to their god to prove their faith instead of acting out their grandiose delusions in real time .
