Hey im about to enherit a xg 300 from my uncle and i just wanted to know if they are great cars. What kind of gas mileage do they get? Is it a good winter car? and how would you use the gear shift for the manual part (if you see there is automatic and then next to it is in case you want to drive it manually (i think)) yeah how would you use that. Any info would be great.
Thanks.

I agree with poster #1, its a pretty good mid-size sedan and makes a good first car. Gas mileage of 17-25 isn't too bad for a V6, but the Korean cars were still in catchup mode at that point. The car should be fine in winter if you have good all-season tires. The manual shifter is easy too use, if you can't figure it out you shouldn't be driving...its a clutchless shifter, nuff said. I have a co-worker with XG300 and another with XG350 who haven't had any problems...I own the Azera which replaced the XG.

The manual mode is actually called shift tronic by Hyundai. To use it, you could just pay attention to how the car changes out while in automatic mode. For example, (while in automatic mode) the digital display on the dash will start out at 1. By the time you reach 20 KM (or just about) it will change out to 2. By the time you reach 40 KM (or just about) it will change out to 3 & By the time you reach 60 KM (or just about) it will change out to 4. Its really very simple.

Now when using the shift tronic mode you will have to do the same thing, but instead of the car changing out by it self you would be tipping (or pushing the shifter forward) the shifter forward, everytime you reach those KM points. Again its simple and you don't even have to gear down because the car will do this for you.

I almost forgot. While the car is in drive mode (D), you need to pust the shifter in the empty slot which could be to the left or the right, depending on wether the car is a right or left hand drive. My Sonata (which is essentially the same thing), shifts to the left because my car is a right hand drive vehicle.

great car, styled after the bently. Gas mileage crappy.... in reality only about 20-25 mPG. Smooth ride, but not powerful enough in my opinion. Prefer the sonata LX. A free car is a free car. They do look nice and very little maitnence on hyundais
