I drive past the St. Louis Mormon Temple every night after work and there's always smoke coming out of the ground. What are they burning?

It's probably steam from the laundry. They have a huge load every evening!!

We don't burn anything in the temple. Maybe it's steam. I work near a Central Heating and Cooling Plant, where they generate steam all the time. Perhaps what you're seeing is steam. Although I don't know how that could be either seeing as the only steam that might be generated would come from the washing machine when laundry is done.

You are probably seeing steam coming from their ventilation system or something like that. Or smoke from the heating system. Many temples have cafeterias and most have laundry facilities, you could be seeing the steam from the dryers.
There is NOTHING burned at the temple.
Although I like Mormon 4 Jesus' answer _sacrificial virgins, now that is funny- crap I need to find my lightning rod before I get struck by lightning. LOL

Could be steam from the laundromat or possibly smoke from the cafeteria (talk about excellent food at even better prices).

it's most likely just steam from the basement laundry. they do a lot of it.
