My exboyfriend drove us to his house after we got off work on my Bday. We had both been drinking and got in a fight once we got there. He took my phone and wouldn't let me inside He called the police I ended up going to jail for a PI cause I had no where to go and wasn't going to drive. He also called my work and I may not have a job anymore. He bailed me out with my car payment money. If I'd had a choice I would have sat it out cause I don't have the money.

It sucks that this happened your birthday, but money back for what? Paying your bail? How did he have access to your "car payment" money. Did you have a joint account where he could access your "car payment" or cash in your purse?

If you ex paid the 10% to a bailbonds person to get you out of jail you will not get that 10% back; that is the fee that the bailbonds people get to keep for them paying the full amount of the bond to ensure you will show up for Court.

If you had "sat it out" in jail you would have to have been in their until the trial since bail was set and you would have for sure lost your job, so if he paid your bail and called into your work and you can go back to work tomorrow, be thankful that he did. If you were in jail with no income, you would not be able to make any car payments and lose it anyway. Either borrow the money from friends or family or call the lender up and come up with a plan that will bring the payments current within 90 days and stick to it.

This could be a huge red flag that you have a drinking and/or anger mangement problem and need to address that problem.

Unless that IOU is a signed by a notary public, you are out of luck. Bankruptcy does two very big things: 1) It makes it impossible for him to get a loan 2) It protects from credit card companies, banks, and most definitely you. Loaning money to a boyfriend is never a good idea. If you are woman and your boyfriend has to borrow money from you, then you need a new boyfriend.

Legally, you owe the money for getting out of jail, not him, he did not go to jail. But you will get your bail money back when you show up to court. Then the court will probably take it for court fees and your fine etc, sorry, but you'll have to wait and see. As far as the car money...can you get something cheaper and then save some money. And stay away from the ex.

Unfortunately, these are one of lives leasons that we have to learn. Sorry, about your money. Unless you have solid proof, like a receipt in his name, its more like he said/she said.
You need solid evidence when it comes to legal matters, and even the police will see all the evidence before making their judgment.
Its better that you stay away from him and take this as a learning experience and it you must drink, drink responsibly.
You might want to talk to your boss about your job, hopefully you still have it , if this is your first incident on the job, most bosses will let it slide that is if your valuable to the company.

The bail money will come back to you. If your BF owes you money....all you can do is appear in civil court and the Judge will ask you and Him questions regarding your complaint. Take the bastard to court is my advice and the judge will smile upon you for not drinking and driving. Good Luck.
