A few years ago, a relative I never met passed away. The only thing she knew about me was that I was about her size, so she left me a mink fur coat. Then when my parents gave me a motorcycle, a friend of my mother's gave me a nice leather jacket. I'd like to sell them both, since I sold the motorcycle long ago in favor of a 4-wheeled car that I can actually control, and never once wore the fur coat and my husband and I are college kids that always need extra cash. But I can't sell them online or anything because PETA will lynch me if they know I *gasp!* own fur and leather, even though I don't want to own them. What should I do with the coats, or where can I sell them?

You can try a consignment shop.

I am not quite sure how they work. But they take the stuff you want to sell and they display it and sell it for you and they take a percent of the money as a commission.

I think you are actually fairly safe on e-bay and similar sites with the leather.

Check with charitable institutions in your area. Maybe one of them will take the fur coat and give you a tax receipt, where at least you could write it off as a deduction.

You could advertise it in the local newspaper too.

SCREW PETA!!! Sell the coat anyway you wish to. The coat was given to you as a gift... there are no strings attached to a gift, and if you wish/need to sell it, do so with no thoughts of guilt or regret. If anything, if you are needing the proceeds from the sale, you can be "thankful" to the relative who gave you the coat that helped you out now.

PETA has to get their noses out of YOUR business!!!

Have a polite day!

try the penny saver... or newspaper.. something like that, because at yard sales everyone expects to get things real cheap. people love to bargain.. so you probably wont get much for it there. online is the best way to go.. but since you cant just try what i said. Plus.. the penny saver is awesome!

There should be second-hand shops for clothes. How about pawn shops?
