For my biology, the question is....Which of these animals would you think is most related to a hawk: a shark, a bat, or an alligator? Explain what morphological criteria you used to make your choice.

I know which one is most related to the hawk but how do i explain the morphological criteria. This part is kind of confusing me.....what exactly is the morphological criteria???

Morphology means study of external features of plants and animals .

On the basis of morphology and morphology alone bat is related hawk ; because only these two are flying creatures,having wings .

So the presence of wing is my morphological criterion .

Otherwise all four are unrelated .

Hawk == A bird and feathered animal. ( Has wings)
Shark== An Aquatic fish .

Bat == A mammal ( Has wings)

Alligator = A reptile

Morphology means general shape and appearance. The winged creature would be most similar morphologically.
Perhaps a way to explain it is to think of silhouettes.
