It depends on what your goals for learning it are.
If you're just looking for something relatively easy (for native speakers of English) and fun, I think it's a good choice.

It depends on what your future plans are, career and personal. If you live near a border, Spanish would be helpful, not because you want illegals to speak Spanish to you, but so that you can work in a career field with that useful second language. German is a great second language, and especially if you want to work internationally, or do a lot of traveling in Europe. Need more information to give a better answer. Congratulations on wanting to have a second language, though; very good for the brain cells and for your future life.

It's not that difficult to learn if you're really motivated. A few years ago, my nephew barely knew the language. He went to Berlin to study and totally immersed himself in the language. He became fluent in less than a year.

Germans may look cold, but once they put their guards down and let you in, you're in for pretty nasty drinking games! :-)
I sure wish I could speak German while traveling to tropical destinations - they seem to be everywhere and a fun gang to hang out with.
