Your culture is the society around you, your friends and family, perhaps your religion. So determine your culture by examining the standards, ethics, morals and values of the world you live in, then do some research about a person your gender and age but that lives someplace else.
Then write your paper.

My family has been in the US since the late 1500s on one side and 1604 on the other. With people marrying people from other cultures through the years, I have a mix of several cultures in my heritage with nothing but my last name to place an indicator of the cultures. If I chose the culture of my ancestor with my last name then I would have to say I know little if anything about that culture. I do, however, know the general history and customs of the US and I feel that being a 17th generation citizen of the USA is my culture.
I have a several friends who are Mexican Americans. As I currently live in a city that is almost 60% hispanic, I know that culture well.
Look at your families heritage. Is it largely Italian, Greek, Anglo-Saxon, African American, etc if so write about that. If you are a homogenization of US cultures, then take your pride and describe the culture of the US.
As far as any other cultures, look around your city, how much do you know about any cultures you might find there?
That is how you answer the question.

Well, what culture are you from? White, black, latino, asian? What is it about your culture that makes it different from other cultures? Do you know people of other cultures? If you do, write about them, if you don't then be honest and say that you do not. This is not really a right or wrong type of assignment, it is so the teacher can assess how you and your classmates think and probably figure out what she needs to focus on when she gives her lessons on this subject. People of different cultures and religions are fascinating. It's amazing how we all think we are so different, but when it comes down to it, and what is important to us, we all are so much the same.

First, figure out what you consider your culture to be. Write out how you feel you fit in within that culture. Then, consider a culture that is totally different and compare it.
For instance, I am Native American, but I don't consider my culture to be the Sioux Nation. I might write about how I fit into a normal caucasian-american society and then compare it to how things are done in Japan.

Most of us really don't know our culture. It's the way that things are done in the society in which you live.
