It may be my Pagan-ness telling me it's off, but, I'm still so curious.

As a Pagan, it is important to have a close, tight-knit, caring bond with your Matron and Patron, whoever they may be. The Lady and Lord, Diana and Pan, Isis and Cernunnos, whoever it may be.

The point is, we are encouraged by our Patron and Matron to have a tight bond with them, and think of them more as a friend and someone you can rely on. Someone to cry to during the bad times, to celebrate the good times with. Someone who doesn't control your life and the world around you, but can influence chance should you ask politely and correctly.

With Christians, it's more of a "I LOVE GOD BECAUSE IF I DON'T I'LL GO TO HELL!" and Christians will say things like "GOD! WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO ME!?" when things go wrong, yet when things go right they thank God...

Whereas with Pagans (at least me and those I know!) when something goes wrong, we ask for guidance through the hard times... so... what's the deal?

Disclaimer: This isn't all Christians, but it's a lot of them. If you don't fall into this category, then state it and move on. Don't preach at me, please. Thank you.

Cut the bull, you no more believe in some ridiculous gods and goddesses of ancient Greece and Egypt than I believe in the tooth fairy; it's just a pose. We are all children of the one true God, who created heaven and earth from nothing, and those who won't accept that are the poorest of His servants.

Rather than having a "patron" or "matron", Christians have God, Jesus or the Holy Spirit to cry out to.

There are loads of people who think God is only in existence to serve us, but in reality and according to the bible, we are on the earth to serve Him.

We fear God, but are not afraid of Him. And Christians have a relationship with Jesus as opposed to a "religion."

The truth is, there really is a heaven and a hell, but once your salvation is secure in Jesus Christ, there is no more fear in hell or dying for that matter. We know where we are going when we die.

The ones who question God in bad times, clearly do not understand God. He shapes and molds us to be stronger each time. The Lord never promises we would be protected from the bad times, but instead, assures us He is there carrying us thru it. He does not control us. He gave us free will, so we don't love God just so we don't go to hell...

We believe because we want to.
We are spiritual creatures. Even you. All humans were born with an eternal spirit and a God shaped hole in us that only the Lord can fill. After this life is eternal life either in hell or heaven.

God is the only Deity that holds the keys to heaven, and the gate to it is Jesus Christ.
Where are you going when you die?

It is you! Christians also ask God for guidance you must not know alot of Christians huh? Don't feel bad I don't know alot of Pagans...... I celebrate everything with the Father He is my best friend if you have one you'll know what I mean. The one that I laugh with the one I cry to and He is also my Fortress, Strength, Rock, He is the only Good in me. I feel sorry for you that the only Christians that you have encountered are obviously putting off these kind of vibes. I am sure that they don't feel like that all the time. I don't get the lady and lord diana and pan isis and cernunnos or what ever that is all just running together to me don't get it..... But God Bless You my friend! Oh and by the way I love God because He gave me life and He is everything to me. He Blesses me and Jesus has gone to prepare me a place don't you want Him to prepare you a place also? We could be neighbors one day! OH BY THE WAY THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD IN MY VIEW!

Are you asking this question because you really don't know or because you just want to incite some kind of angry response from Christians? Why?

You people are weird with your stupid questions and pseudo curiosity.

Most serious Christians don't care about hell because it doesn't apply to them. They have no concern about hell. They are God's servants because they truly want to be and because they have a love of that position. People who are casual believers who don't know anything, believe because they don't want to go to hell.
That's like a person saying they are a witch because they have a wart on their nose, or they like Halloween, or they like pointy hats. Are those things the most important facets of your religion? Well, it's kinda the same thing.

Also, in defense of those weekend Christians, people fall short of their expectations. Even wiccans. Someone may be going through something that has them questioning their faith, that doesn't make them a bad person. It makes the HUMAN!
Just like you. Humans fall short of their own expectations, nevertheless that of their god's. Call it hypocrisy but seriously look in the mirror because there are moments in your life when you've been a hypocrite.

Just because everyone doesn't believe in the earth and patron and matron gods that won't even be here in five hundred years (if scientist are correct) doesn't mean that you have to try to reduce other people's religion to being hard to believe. Many people find your faith hard to believe.

So when you are feeling specially hated on because of your religion, why don't you think about how that feels for you. Now take that feeling and try to reason and empathize that other people may feel the same way when little you do the same exact thing.

Use some of the logic you claim to have and maybe you'll ask more intelligent questions.

well unfortunatly hollywood and much of the liberal news media focuses on the good many flawed hypocritical people whom use the Christian logo as like a fad or something. i had a friend that every week she was a new religion. the message that God gives isnt that at all "i'll go to hell if i dont love Him" thats just simply bull crap. I love God because of what my bible tells me he did for me, that He sent His son to die for me. I simply have given my life over to the One that loved me enough to die for me [is how i look at it]. the [in my belief] fact that he made the world and all the laws and rules and says that i should follow those rules has nothing to do with it, i just appreciate the heck out of what He did for me. and when i have a hard time [kinda like what im going through right now] i just talk to Him. i think of Him as my Daddy that i havent gotten to see yet. so my friend i'm sorry you have had a poor sampling of those who claim to be christian, but if you ever get to meet a true believer, [unless they're really old and into that 'old religion' stuff] then i hope you'll find that we are really just people like everyone else and just really open minded.. or at least i am.

good luck and God bless!

You're painting all Christians with broad brush strokes, and asking us to believe that Pagans are so very wonderfully smart and enlightened that nothing could make you cry out in anger or pain. Sorry, but a fear of hell is not making me believe in God. I believe in God because God is real. Many people go through periods of doubt and anger when something bad happens. Christians also ask for guidance and strength when bad things happen, but we ask the one true God. Serving God is a way of life that Christians strive to live. By doing for others we are serving God. By living a Godly life, we serve Him. By discussing His love and the hope He offers, with nonbelievers, we are serving Him. I hope I've helped you to understand "the deal."

Well, you're right that the Christians who say things like that, don't seem to understand the concept of being a "servant of God." I think the whole point of being a servant of God is captured in the words of St. Teresa of Avila:

Christ has no body now on earth but ours; no hands, no feet, but ours.
Ours are the eyes through which he looks with compassion on the world.
Ours are the feet with which he walks to do good.
Ours are the hands with which he blesses the world.
Christ has no body now on earth but ours.

You're right, (in this respect at least) it's very different theology than paganism. But there you go. Peace to you.

Unfortunately, your observation of some Christians is right on the nose. They are this way because they do not have a proper picture of God's love. In His love, God provided a way out of hell, a perfect atonement for man's sins so that he doesn't have to go.
God doesn't gleefully smite people and send them to hell with joy, instead He lovingly gives them the choice to love Him back...or not.

There are all kinds of Christians and not all of them get good grades in God's sight. FYI

Mankind isn't smart enough to choose the right religion. Man chooses by feeling and the flesh. For example, you chose pagan...and in so doing, fell for a lie. There is an up for down, a hot for cold, a positive for negative, a black for white. If there is a place of bliss in the next world, there remains a place of torment.

Anyone not in Christ, goes to the torment. There is only one way to redeem man, a second Adam to correct the fall of the first Adam. Whether you believe in Him or not, Christ is the only way to Bliss in the next world.

Serving God in the Christian sense is like pretending that something exists. I've noticed that these so-called Christians like fairy tales. I also find them to be gullible, naive and simple.
They claim that their ancient text is the word of God when God does not speak in human tongues. His language is that of the physical sciences.
