The god i was taught to believe in, forgives all. IF I died tonight, and IF I believed in that all merciful, all knowing god, then, YES. I would be going to heaven. However, considering the state of the world, he's not paying attention much anymore. But I still do what's right. Because it's who I am. Who my parents raised me to be. A good, kind, caring and helpful man. In the end, if that's not good enough, then I don't WANT to go to heaven.

At first I thought I would pass this question over, sounds like another "Accept Jesus as your Personal Lord and Savior" bit, but here I am - answering.

Why? You ask? Simple. My wife died Monday morning. Yes, this is true, no BS. She died.

I know she has gone on to her eternal life. The one thing that troubles me is "Where"? As a devout Catholic, I firmly believe that there are 3 possibilities, Heaven directly, Heaven by way of Purgatory, and Hell. Now, my wife was a good person, loved many people and rarely had a negative thing to say about anyone, but she wasn't without sin (details are not important).

Since she died with sin on her soul, and only purity can enter Heaven, Heaven directly is pretty much out of the question, so that leaves Purgatory or Hell.

Were her sins enough to warrant Hell? Who, but God (and now her) know for sure. I would like to think that her sins weren't that bad and she is in Purgatory being cleansed for entry into Heaven.

In short, only God knows who is/will be getting into Heaven - like it or not, that is the ONLY answer.

I take comfort in that.

May the Peace and Grace of the Risen Lord be with you.

Well as an atheist, I don't worry about the god part at all. And I am certain the only place I am going will be to the crematorium as planned.

As to the regrets part, no worries there. I live my life to try and minimize regrets. I do not intentionally harm others, I help when I can, I have loved well, and I am loved by those that matter.

So, although, I hope this is not my last day on earth (after all I have a lot I would like to accomplish first), I have no regrets that I need to be absolved of.

Peace

God forgives everything if you acknowledge God. The one thing that is unforgivable even by God is to deny that God exists. I'm never absolutely certain myself if I may have done something or said something anytime that may have hurt a fellow human so I ask God's forgiveness continually.

God will forgive everything except failing to believe (if you truly repent your sins).
I can not control whether I go to Heaven or Hell, I can only control how I act. So I try to act the best I can and I'll end up where I end up.

I am giving everyone who says they don't believe in God or knows they are going to hell points, because there logic may doom them to an eternity of damnation and I hope they remember that they failed to receive Jesus but they received one point. Matthew 5:44 Romans 12:20/21

"The man who passed away and went to heaven or hell (what makes u feel more comfortable), asked God:
Why did u leave me die?.
And then God replied: I didn't leave u die. It is just that u never lived".

God give us a life "to live"honey, not to be worry if we are errant or not. Of course we will all be forgiven one day ...
Just live well. Do not "pretend" to be a saint because u are not, none of us is. Just be good with urself, with everything and everyone around you.
The purpuse is "to be happy" with no damage to 3rd.

I certainly hope I won't be going to heaven. And I'm reasonably sure my hopes will be fulfilled.

I'm easy with death and easy with the life I've lived. I just hope when the time comes I get enough warning to let the cats out.

I confess my sins to God every day... I offer my soul to Him daily... I thank Him daily... and I pray for all peoples in this world daily... as well as individuals...

I forgive all people who hurt/have hurt me... and ask forgiveness for all whom I have hurt... or will hurt... emotionally... mentally... physically... or by word... or deed... or thought... and I know... without a doubt... that God forgives... and loves me... as He loves us all...

As for if I'll ever go to heaven... well only He can answer that... I can't... because I know that I fall short on a daily basis... as do we all... and only He... can judge me... NO ONE ELSE...

I am not afraid to die... only nervous of the way I'll die... and pray to God for strength to cope with that... I know that God will lead the way... that Christ will meet me... as for where my place inside His kingdom is... well I've already told Him... even if it is outside the door... just listening to angels singing God's praise... and hopefully... listening also to Elvis singing songs of faith to Him... if that is all I get... it will be enough for me:-)

but then I am weak and merely human...

good question. I worry about that even though I believe.

I have tried not to live in fear. Fear is not from God. I think it's a tool Satan uses to hurt our faith and trust in God.

Pray and ask God to help you with this. The answers will come. Give it time.

And to accept Jesus as your savior means that Jesus has already paid the price for your sins.

No. I do not worry about things that some non-existent deity may choose to forgive or not.

I am absolutely certain that I will not be going to some imaginary place called heaven. I am pretty sure.
