Well, your mom will get over it eventually. It's her job to worry. My mom worried when I joined the Army, and I was 24 and married. Long out of the house. Don't let her worrying stop you from doing something to make you happy.
Statistically you have a better chance of being killed in the states than you would deployed anyway.
As for the other info, you should talk to a Naval and Marine recruiter.

LIfe is dangerous even if you're not in the military. Nearly 50,000 people die every year in car accidents alone.
But if you don't already know what the Marines are, and have decided that's your life, then it's not for you. You don't join the Marines, you become a Marine. It's a Way of Life.
Safest, I'd have to give the opinion, is the Navy. Unless you have a world war in which sea battles are a risk everyday, then you're not going to be in direct confrontation. Still, remember that sailors died on the USS Cole when terrorists planted a bomb on the hull.
Air Force is about the same, but they're still in the same area as the war going on. Plus, promotions seem to be pretty slow.
Army, well, you already know what the story is with them. But the promotions are pretty fast.
Coast Guard's job is to protect American waters, so they don't get sent to Iraq. But there is the occasional conflict with drug runners and smugglers.
Don't worry about being a "sissy". Nobody wants to die, not even Marines. Some just aren't as worried about it. That doesn't make them any better, just more suited for certain jobs.

If you want the least dangerous jobs in the Navy, there are several to choose from: Postal Clerk, Yeoman, Personnelman, to name a few. At the same time you are wondering about the least dangerous jobs you mention a desire to be a Navy SEAL or a Marine Sniper. Both of those are extremely dangerous professions. Especially the Navy SEAL option. We've lost a few in Afghanistan and Iraq, plus other places that are not public knowledge.
Sorry, I don't understand. First you are looking for a safe job in the military. Then you say you want to engage in one of the least safe. Maybe the ones who answered your first question were just trying to point out to you how mixed up your thinking is. My advice is to get away from all of the movies and TV shows about the military. Get to your local library and dig through the racks looking for real information about the Navy and the Marine Corps. It's great that you want to join. Just do it from a base of reality.

You'd have a higher chance of getting to try out for the SEALs and a shot at sniper school as a Marine. Something like Marine Force Recon. If you're a stud like you claim, and are able to prove yourself, you'll maybe get a shot at trying out for SEALs later on, or a chance to attend sniper training. There is no specific educational requirements that I am aware or. Maybe some aptitude tests later on, or they might go off of your ASVAB scores.

Don't think your a sissy. There are great jobs in the military. It's cool that your considering joining. Good luck and stay safe.
To be a sniper you need to be an excellent marksman. Hard position to get unless you were raised with a gun. People who learn to hunt at a very early age sometimes attain these skills. But I could be wrong.

Don't know about the requirements about the SEALS, but I will tell you this: If you are worried about people thinking you are a sissy, not military material, then you need to make another evaluation of yourself and what you want to do. It doesn't matter what you do in the military. Everyone has their own interests and motivation. If you want to be a cook, a clerk or belong to an elite unit, go for it. You spend your life caring about what everybody thinks, when are you gonna have time to worry about how you are going to get where you want to go and be what you want to be?

Dude, regaurdless of what some of the idiots on here say, or what you mother wants for that matter, just do what you really want to do. I know guys that tried to please their moms and choose a safe job, they work in the supply room and hate every day. On the other side of the spectrum, not everyone in the military is a "combat killer" nor should they be, the military wouldn't be able to operate without the guys in the rear.

I don't think you are a sissy. I answered your other question. I told you that the Navy has the least casualties, and that the Marines is not for you. Not that you are a sissy but your chances of dying are much higher. Like I said I have a friend who is in the Marines....I thank him greatly for going through it, but I wouldn't be able to. Anyone willing to fight for my country, whether he/she wants to be in the front lines or the back....is a hero to me.

You be what ever you want to be. Just don't tell your mom what you are doing. My sister went ape because my nephew worked on the flight deck and she saw a show on TV showing how dangerous it was. Didn't think we'd ever get her off the ceiling. Mom's are going to worry if you are a navy seal or a cooks assistant.
