It isn't the military, it's world politics that has made it impossible to kill him. Clinton had the chance before 911, but it would have looked bad at the time. The powers in Pakistan have a very weak grip on their country now, and would be overthrown if they let us in to finish the job. That would create even more instability in the region. It's the lesser of many evils to let him rot in some dusty cave.

Wrong technology.
The modern military was developed for international warfare during the cold war.
Bin laden does not involve himself with such matters.

The chase is more important than the capture. Much can be learned during the hunt. Also, if OBL is in Pakistan we cannot enter without causing more trouble than it's worth.

It's because the U.S. doesn't want to go into Pakistan and get him. The U.S. never went after Sitting Bull either after his men killed some U.S. troops and Sitting Bull was making money going town to town doing public rants (for money) in his native tongue. The U.S. never really went after several terrorists and enemy leaders. The man is going to get old and die and be forgotten in 100 years like the key leaders of the Barbary pirates.

because he is in the middle of nowhre being protected by money from the Miiddle east. As you drive your large SUV. some of that money is protecting Bin Laden
