You don't have a military base in Iceland anymore.

And to answer your question... imperialism. Wanting to be a superpower with its finger in all world affairs. You gain from being in all those places, you can influence a lot of things and whatever country you choose to go to war with, you'll have plenty of bases in nearby countries to make it easier for you.

Because they let us. It's easier to deploy and resupply troops around the world if we have permanent bases. Also with us there, we provide some security for their country if they need it. Think about it, would you attack a country if you knew the world's superpower had their back?

speaking of the UK ones, they pretty much all have different functions and more than a few of them are joint facilities, ie that a large amount of UN troops work together within the same base / area.

as for Cuba I thought you only had the one place.............
