Even milk that has expired is still good for a day or two. Cake, I would not worry about. The shelf life on those type of items that have loads of preservatives in them are good for months after they expire. There was a program showing how long grocery items actually last after they have expired, and it really was quite interesting. Perishables don't last, obviously, quite as long as shelved items, such as you bought. You are good to go, enjoy!

LOL @ fattie comment, that was cute =)
Story for you...
I have worked in retail for Years and of all my vendors I have to say Little Debbie is the WORST about out-dates.
No matter how many times the drivers change they always leave stuff on the shelf way beyond the date. Has to be an unwritten rule or something lol .
Anyhow I would not eat anything that expired three months ago! though they have so much sugar and stuff in them they are probably okay.
Take them back if you can, Otherwise call the 800 number on the package and tell them you want coupons for free ones or your money back.

Yes, they are perfectly safe. I buy then the very same way at a little store here in town. They are always good.

If they were made in China, they actually get safer to eat after they expire. ...Something about the lead paint and rat poison losing it potency. Enjoy!

probably safe with the exception of dairy and eggs most food is still safe beyound its experation date. It just might not be as fresh tasting. if you still have your receipt then you can take them back. technically the store can't sell them beyound the expration date. it might have been an oversight

It will only be stale, not spoiled in any way. There are too many preservatives in that stuff. Make bread pudding with it.
