I want to put a roast on while at work tomorrow, but i want to brown it tonight and get all the ingredients ready and put in the fridge so i can plug it in in the morning and let it cook while at work. Will the meat spoil and contaminate the other ingredients?

Nope you should be fine. As long as you get it in the fridge and cooling without leaving it out at room temp for over four hours. If you are worried about it just keep the meat seperate from the other ingredients and put it all together in the morning. We used to do stuff like that when I worked at whole foods. Then we would heat it up/finish cooking it the next day.

I ALWAYS BROWN THE MEAT THE NIGHT BEFORE,
Put in some veggie, then put in the fridge.
The next morning while I am getting ready for work, I take it out of the fridge, put it on HIGH while I am getting dressed, then turn it down to LOW as I walk out the door.
When I come home, the house smells like home cooking and dinner is ready. All I have to do is make a piece of toast for the roast and gravy and veggies to go over or fix some instant rice while I slip into something comfortable.

it is an old wives tale that you must brown the roast before putting it in the roaster or crock pot to cook. You don't need to and it will taste just as good. It depends on the seasonings on it as to whether it tastes good or not. I never brown meats before putting into crock pot to cook no matter if it is a roast or stew meats. Actually I am so sscatterbrained that iI forget to take it out of the freezer in time to do much with it other than toss into the rroaster and put into the oven on 200F for the entire day.

Yes, it would be safe, because any bacteria that would have the oppertunity to form in the fridge, would be cooked out of the meat and vegetables during the 8 or so hours that you're at work.
