If found guilty expect to be sentenced to 16-20 years. Getting paroleed early would be difficult.

Depends on the state laws... There was this incident about a year ago in Louisiana where the cops raided the wrong house, they didn't announce that they were coming in at 2am. The resident was a hard working black man whose was at home resting while his two year old daughter was sleeping in the next room. The cops busted down the door one officer rused into the bedroom AGAIN not stating that he was an officer. The man slept with a gun under his pillow, pulled it out as the officer entered the room and shot and killed the officer. Long story short is that the officer was the chief of police's son, the man was black, all the officers were white, warrant was for a complete different address, no drugs were found, nothing illegal was found, cops broke into the house illegally, and now the man faces jail time for shooting a cop who he thought was a burglar. That aint right! It was the departments fault, even my neighbor who is a cop agrees with me. Plus, as these cops (cop girl, jax cop) claim"you wont make it to jail" signifies the corruptions within our police force. There was a case where a man back in the 1980s killed a cop, and was brutly beaten by the local force. He had all charges dropped somehow, filed a civil suit won a large amount of money, cops went to jail, lost their jobs, and the city is still upset with their police force. If you want to know where these stories are I can show you if i have the time

You would not go to jail at all. Shot a cop or not, it doesn't matter. You come running into my house in the middle of the night or day for that matter and I will SHOT U! 45 semi-auto,Triple tap! To the chest and head area! I'm a very good shot!

I don't know if I would even end up at the station because I would be the homeowner and the only guy dying would be the peretrator as he came through my door. He would be cut in half by a fusilade of 12 gauge 000 buckshot.

shot at a cop but not hit the cop?
hmm
aside from fleeing and the original traffic violation, seems aggravated assault or attempted homicide could be the charge.
10-20 years in most places

Sounds like you're just a walking display of human intelligence........ Plan on at least 5yrs. If you should happen to win this court case, look forward to a long time of justified harassment. You're lucky to be alive after a stupid stunt like that. Send the cop a Thank You note for not shooting your dumb a**.

I think life would be good. If a person doesn't have any qualms about shooting at a cop, they sure aren't going to have any problem in shooting any regular Joe on the street.

Probably life, or 25+yrs to life. But for me I wouldn't shoot a cop, I'm on the other side.

I would hope that you wouldn't spend much time in jail. I'd wish for a fast trip to the electric chair.
